Ive been using dashmats in all my vehicles for 20+ yrs, mostly for glare reduction. Never had a problem with any of them. No fade, protects the dash, and keeps stuff from sliding around too much.
If u keep your car in a garage then like meself who also lives in this sunshine i would go without it and just keep the leather jel on it , if u have to leave the car sit in the sun then by all means get the rug!!
What I find interesting is that living in Florida, I have "learned" how to own a convertible. When I first moved here from Chicago in 2005, I'm thinking top-down driving all the time! However, after realizing how hot and intense the summer sun can be, I've learned how to drive my vert.
I very rarely drive top down during the height of the sun each day, say between 11AM and 2PM. In the summer it is simply too hot. Even when driving fast, the heat and rays are too harsh on the interior and my black center console/seats can literally become too hot to touch.
However, once the sun goes down, so does the top. Verts are great in the evening and at night! I don't own a dash mat, however I have considered one. When I do park for an extended period, I usually put the top up and then insert a a windshield heat reflector.
