Default is this car worth it?

hey everydody just wanting some advice to see if this car is worth the price.

Excellent condition 1997 Torch Red Corvette for sale. Adult driven and owned. Always garaged. Purchased from original owner in 2003. All the paint is original and in excellent condition. This car also has a clean CarFax. Interior is black leather and in excellent condition as well. The car is well equipped with many options. Oil changed frequently and I have always used Mobile 1 full synthetic with the K&N Oil filter. This car has been meticulously taken care of, and it shows, you will not be disappointed. I have very tastefully modified the car with ZO6 wheels (chrome) and upgraded the air filter (blackwing), and added Borla Quadtip Stinger catback exhaust (the car is not loud however it has a nice deep rumble to it). The car has been lowered a little as well. The air conditioning system was replaced two months ago (it was factory untouched until then) and blows ice cold A/C. Tires are in excellent condition with plenty of life left. The 6 speed transmission fluid was just changed also. The car has never been raced and the miles it has accumulated have been mostly highway miles. It has never and does not burn a drop of oil and has been 100% reliable. I have the title clean and clear in hand. Please call if you have any questions.

Look at every inch of it you can see. Read the CarFax, drive it, push all the buttons. Then make up your mind about money once you decide it's what you want. Don't go on about how great a car it is to the seller or he'll raise the price.

94k miles and $15k for a 97?? Be careful... Some will say go for it, but after I found my 98 w/17k miles for $20k, several said BUY IT! Once I did, the only comments were that I paid too much!
At almost 100k miles, you should be able to find a 2001 or newer for that price.. Even LESS.
Corvette season is OVER for the year..
There are a lot of C5's out there in the 50k mile range for 13k or less.. I would keep looking. Flame suit is on guys!
Just do your homework. Check the codes. BUY a CLB the day you buy the car. If they are asking $15k, you should be able to buy it for $12k next month when it's raining or snowing.

My final answer? Too Much $$$$$

I just looked at the picture... Myself, I would NOT like having a car that low.. One speed bump could really **** you off, not to mention, every driveway (home, gas station, etc) will be a new challenge.... Think really hard on this one.. Too many others out there for LESS and newer..
Keep in mind, the computers for the C5's older than 2001, have been DISCONTINUED! If you fry one, you loose.. Be prepared to pay top dollar for a used one, if you can find one.. In the C5, its not a matter on "If I have a failure", its more like "when". It will happen sooner or later, and most likely, when you are 1,000 miles from home.. Food for thought.

That's too high a price for a 97 w/ 100k imo. Talk him down to 13k and then it's a deal worth looking into. The thing NADA books for $13,700 which means you shouldn't go higher than that with so many Corvettes out there for sale.

Go to the top of the C5 section and read all the "stickys".. My favorite is the uber long one on the CLB.. Good reading and will scare you to death. There is GM's temporary fix and the better one that Corvettes of Houston has to offer for $60.. Its really good reading if you have an hour or two. Once you get to the you-tube of the GM master tech saying his company written speech about how there isn't really a problem with the column lock fix, it's all down hill from there. You buy a GOOD battery and that's 1/2 the battle.. Your best bet is to try and find a C5 that hasn't had the recall done.. Then you won't have to find a "tuner" to fix the infamous 2 mph fuel shut off problems............................

If someone wants it badly enough, they'll pay your asking price.

IMO, that's high for a '97 with those miles, even though the car does sound like it is in good condition. I have some Word files, including a Corvette Buyers Checklist, that might help you out. If you'd like a copy, PM me your e-mail address.

I think the price is a bit too high for that many miles.
I suggest doing some more research on the pricing.

I do know how you feel though, once you've looked for awhile, then what you want pops up, it's hard to resist.

BUT if it's the ONE calling your name, and it's in great shape...don't feel bad you paid the price to own THAT ONE, if it's what YOU WANT!

Enjoy the car Life is short, drive the snot out of it and smile every mile!

Well said. Time is money.

I do think you can do better, but not much. First step, if you like the car, is offer $12K. At $13K or so, it will be a fair deal and you can stop looking and start driving.

For perspective, in Jan '09 I paid $14.5K for a very nice (see my pics) '99 with 73K miles. It was lightly modded with Honker intake, Corsa Pace Car exhaust, tune, Z06 Motorsport rims, and new seat leather. It now has 91K on it. I've put normal maintenance money into it and a Hurst shifter, and I probably would not sell it for less than I paid (not that anyone would offer me that much) because that is what it is worth to me today...

Good luck.

97 with almost 100k for 15 grand. That's not a great deal. Just sort of average. You can find 98-99's for 15 grand these days with same or less mileage. I bought a 99 with half those miles and similar mods for only $18,500 over 3 years ago. So I would say a 99 with those mods included would be a good deal. A 97 at 13 grand would be a good deal but at 15 it's nothing special and probably wont go quickly if you want to keep looking around first.

Good luck.
