Default HID low beams?

Hi Guys......
Just installed a set of HIDs I've had for a few months. Lows are not lighting at all. High beams work fine. Doors open an close as usual.
Here are some pics. The ballast is not real clear but is marked + & - and that is where the plug lines up (green to pos & blk to neg.). Will try to get a clearer pic if needed. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Check your polarity. Sounds like you have the connection backwards somewhere.

You can turn the plug into the ballast the opposite direction with your kit to accomplish this.

I reversed the driver side, it reversed easy. The pass. side won't seat, although it feels like the pins are touching. Still didn't work though. Is the ground at the fuse box sufficient?

I've never seen that spot used.

Try the one to the right of the battery. It's deep down there so you might need a light to see it and will probably need to adjust the wiring.

OK, did that. Here's what I get now. With the plug reversed in the ballast, I get nothing. Put the plugs back neg to neg & pos to pos and the pics are what I get now. Still can't get the pass. side to reverse, the driver side plugs fine reversed. Pass. side low beam comes on with just headlights switch on. Go to high beam and both highs work and the low beam stays on also.

Lows are supposed to stay on with the highs.

Reverse that other side and you should have it working. Instead of switching it at the ballast you can also switch it at the low beam plug that is connecting to the back of the housing. You will want to electrical tape it since the connector won't snap together.

neither side is reversed now & both sides are wired the same. Will try the reverse at the low beam & will get back to you. Sure do appreciate your help.

No problem. I sell these and troubleshoot them all the time.

I'll check back in the thread in the morning. I have go to class now.

If reversing doesn't work you might try switching the ballast to the other side to see if it's bad. I think reversing the connection will fix it though.

I don't know for sure but will try and find out. IF I get both sides to work, will post some pics. The pass. side works fine, high & low. Both high and low stay on together when the high beam is on. I know the low & high on the pass. side is brighter than both sides of the oems combined. Can't imagine what they would be when both side are working. These are 6000k. Awesome!!!!

sometimes its best to back all the way up and start over.

switching plugs back and forth, then switching cables,, blah blah... you know.

keep this in mind. almost all HID kits LOOK like they are no-brainers with the plugs and almost all kits are backwards. even though they LOOK wrong when plugged in (the little locks don't line up on the same side of the plug) they are correct when backwards.

Have a beer, watch the news, and try it again.

Exactly what I plan to do tomorrow. Both sides are wire identical. Pass. side works, driver side doesn't (although the high beam on the driver side did work, now it doesn't). Leaning toward a bad ballast. Will switch them out tomorrow and see..

Check the connector to the ballast. I was having issues with (I thought) ballasts and found it to be a bad connector. I replaced the connector and the problem went away.

when i installed HIDs on the truck, i had the same issue. switched polarity & it fixed it. come to find out, most GMs have that problem when installing HID kits. to get the connector to seat/lock, i pulled the pins out & swapped them. if you've tried both ways, you have a bad connection somewhere in the line.

and to whoever asked about the big auction site - that's where i got mine. they just come with H9 halogens instead of HIDs for the lows (all 4 bulbs are included), but some black DEPO corners come with them.

and to the OP: a little off-topic, but how do you like those perforated fog light housings? i'm thinking about buying a set

In my case, I wiggled the wires around at the connector and the light would come on. It LOOKED good but was not making a solid connection.

I switched polarity on the ballasts..on the driver side that is. The pass. side will not seat with the plug turned around but that side works anyway with the plug installed normally. I also switched the driver side hi-beam bulb to the pass. side and it works. I will reverse the pins tomorrow, if that doesn't wok will switch ballasts.
On the perforated fog lights, I like them. They brings in a lot of air.
