For the Callaway Twin Turbo Option, RPO B2K, "B" codes in that era. B2K was an example of this and included specific equipment.

An example of this from the F-Body lineup is RPO B2L: This was in addition to RPO L98 (5.7L TPI engine) For instance....

From 1988 -1990 the B2L option package mandated the use of and included 1) the 5.7L engine, 2) the MXO 4-speed AOD, 3) the K34 engine oil cooler, 4) WS6 suspension, 5) J65 four-wheel disc brakes, and 6) G80 limited slip differential.

There are other codes like this. I hope this helps.
There lots of speculating, To which I have no answer, but there's an LG-4 & 5 which are simply cast iron blocked Truck engines.

...it's not all about Corvettes Some of the codes are reused - and not always on the "cool" models

From above...L78 : ENGINE, ALCOHOL, 4 CYL, 2.0L, MFI, OHC

I liked it better when it was known as the 1st Vette big block in 1965 - 396ci, 425 hp, shp with solid lifters.

It was also the designation for the solid lifter 396/375 in other chevy's from 1966 to 1970(?)
