just bought my 98 its has a K&N cold air, Corsa exhaust...i was having an issue with the check engine light and service engine message soon light coming on so i took th Mayhem Motorsports here in Raleigh and they found out the mass air sensor was giving eratic readings and replaced that and tuned the it while it was there.. started off with 295 hp and after the tune now i have 312 hp to the wheels, the guy said thats pretty good for a 98 with 67k on it..he said if i really want to wake it up i should start with long tube headers for a gain of 20 to 30 more hp and from what i have read Kooks seems to be the best, i dont want to have inspection problems so i will need a catted pipe, who has the best prices on these systems??

You will love the Kooks -
I have them with the Cats and am making 701 RWHP on '98 through the C5 Z06 Titanium mufflers!
Kooks are one of the best on the market - but remember that they are all really close to each other - in terms of RWHP they all Dyno pretty much the same!
I have watched many Header packages being changed out, in person, and re-dyno'd and they all came within 1-3 RWHP of eachother. Just a heads up. But as far as quality - Kooks are very good

Long tubes will definitley help you out but I'd say you're doing pretty good as is... I thought the 98 was only rated at 345 crank hp. 312 at the wheels is pretty impressive.....

I think Kooks are about the best you can buy - it is the header of choice when we're asked to recommend a LT setup. Reason is best fit and best quality, not to mention that they're made in the good old USA.
Maryland Speed has about the best prices on the Kooks with a catted X-pipe of any I've seen.
BTW - my '98 with LT's, a Blackwing and a tune made 330 rwhp.
