Default Voice activated start (crazy idea?)

Has anyone ever done this or have you seen the circuitry required? I would like to be able to get in my car and say a word or two and it starts. No key required, but leave the ignition there to keep a potential thief busy. The only way the car would start is the one or two words chosen.

What could go wrong? Sorry but this does seem like kind of a bad/crazy idea. I see this working only as a novelty feature that can be easily disabled.

Now on a serious note

I think the problem with most of the "alternate start" ideas for a C5 have to do with the Vats feature.

Vats isnt the best thing since sliced bread, but it does add the feature that you have to have, in your hand, the correct key with the right resistor. Any of the systems that remote start, pushbutton start, whatever, would possibly have to either disable the vats thing or place circutry in there that in effect puts the correct resistor in the car, not in your hand.

So . . .to some extent its like leaveing half of the key in the car.

Anything can be done, and probably has been done already but voice start...Im gonna pass on that. Good luck though

I love having a key. I don't really like the keyless ignition anymore. At first I liked it, but now, not so much. I had to drive around my mom's M35 for a while and it's keyless ignition, (as close as it gets to voice recognition) and after a while I realized I didn't like it. It took longer to get into the car, longer to start the car, and turning off the car means everything else turns off.

No thanks. Call me old school, but they haven't perfected anything but the keyed ignition.

It sounds cool, but I guess I really don't have any problems using a key - it's not all that difficult or inconvenient.

My wife's car has voice activated start.

Whenever we are taking her car I yell to her to go out and start the car.

Works every time.

Awesome idea, but not budget friendly.

You know, now that I think of it my car does have a voice assisted start. Every time I start it I say "Come on, please no Active Traction warning, PLEASE."

I had a co-worker at a previous job that had to blow into a straw to start his car but that was something completely different.

Seriously though I've never seen a voice activated start (other than movies). Are there any that come from the factory, I would be a little worried of the reliability.

Could be a problem for me, I'm getting a bit forgetful as I age. I still can't remember my cell phone number! Although "WTF" might work, I tend to say that a lot.

If that worked, I'd be "remote starting" your car all the time !
