I have to say, what Vette since the early 80's got that bad of fuel economy? I don't get it. My 04 got 31 mpg and my current 00 can get better than 29-30. I still do close to 20 in town?
What gives? Maybe the new ZR-1 but not the NA C6's even... argh. It's shady publicity that keeps the negative image for GM.
Yea, those fuel numbers are pulled from someones ***. Its a very very common misconception that driving a vette means "you must spend a fortune on gas". Nearly everytime someone starts a conversation with me about my vette that is brought up. This article was obviously written by that same kind of unimformed person.
Does anyone really care what some moron wrote in an article? I don't. He has to write something he can sell and most of his readers can't afford a corvette. It seems like a "win-win" for the author. Just saying...
I feel the same way when somebody writes a great article about vettes. Who really cares as we all have an opinion...
Being discussed over in Off Topic Somebody even posted the email address of the uninformed idiot that wrote the article.
The whole thing is a jab at any car that doesn't meet the greenie's vision of a Prius in every garage. Most articles like this quickly get hammered and they go away. But the author gets a warm feeling knowing that she has exposed the cars that do nothing but destroy the world.

The "chevrolet" link embedded in the article lists all of the Corvettes as getting 26 mpg on the highway......except the ZR1, which gets the 20 mpg quoted in the article.
If she wanted to list all the vehicles that got the worst gas mileage what happened to Japanese imports like the tundra because I know a full size tundra cant get 18.5 on the highway like a fully loaded 2500 silverado does, and thats with the 6.0, 4wd, quadrasteer, and 4.10s.
And that goes for most gm vehicles, if you actually compare a car that is in the same class then a checy will almost always do better than its competitors; just cant compare a Malibu hybrid to a prius like motor trend thinks just because its a hybrid.
Fuel economy numbers are pulled from what the average individual driving that vehicle can attain. These are people that gas it heavily off the line and/or are in the wrong gear at a given time (m/t). To get 30+ in a vette requires taking it easy something i can attest to...30.7mpg for me. Even if a 4cyl camry/accord can get 38mpg on the highway its funny how the vette is very close to them while still possession 3x's the hp.

Well I drive fairly spirited around town and I almost always get 19.5 or 20, and by spirited I mean the car sees redline more than a few times
And when I have driven 4cyl I tend to push the car a little harder just to keep up with the rest of traffic and actually get ever worse gas mileage. But if I actually try and get good mileage out of a 4cyl then it does pretty good but you have to pay attention and actually try where as in the vette Im not even trying to because it has no problem keeping up with traffic or accelerating.

It talks about CO2 output, but who the hell cares??? That's a by-product that we also put out each time we breath. Maybe the people who cry about CO2 should shoot their mouths and die hehehe
I can't remember where the forest is, but I think its far far north, but anywho, this vast landscape of trees produces enough O2 to replenish what's needed. Sorry, I saw it on an educational show not too long ago, don't remember the reference to list it. Yeah, we need to recycle and reuse, etc, but I don't think a Corvette, Buick, or Caddy is going to be the death of us.
WHAA? They really did pull the vette stuff...do you think this sort of forum had anything to do with it?
Very cool power of the Internet. Glad the vette is not the picture up there anymore either. I live in a very eco friendly county and have to deal with stares because I don't want an econocan....

Yes, multiple people in off-topic received reply emails from the author apologizing and saying that the article was being fixed immediately.
They also said the Cadillac CTS was an "8 cylinder" sedan- I think they must've meant the CTS-V. The regular CTS would get mid to upper 20s on the highway.
