Sue the **** out of them. Sounds harsh but if it was a teenage wreck then 90 percent of the time it will be because of stupidity. Hope they have good insurance with property damage.

Sue what's left of the estate if no survivors, and certainly their insurance carrier. It's a pity what hormones and stupidity do to young people. They take the easy way out and leave the mess for everyone else to clean up after.

Their insurance should pay for it. If you don't have that info call the police and ask for any info they can give you from the police report. I'd ask for a copy of it anyway for your own records of repair on your property.

Sorry to hear of the accident. Did they survive ?

Sounds like a little "SMC Filler" and repaint should work fine.

+1

To the OP I would have the cover replaced and then get an estimate for the repaint of the hood and top. I would then have the scratches filled, air brushed, and buffed out while keeping the rest of the money. As for the windshield I would also get an estimate for replacement and then keep the cash. In any event having it repainted for scratches might sound nice until you have to get it painted and then find drips, runs, over spray, crap in the car you know what always seems to happen at a body shop. I would also use my own insurance and have them deal with the other insurance.

As far as suing I don't know what kind of case you might have. All that happened was your vehicle(s) were damaged right? Now if you sustained personal injury or missed work as a result then maybe, but if you try to bring a case because your vette was damaged you will get shown the door.

My two cents are free... you get what you pay for!

You must make sure the damage to your property was accounted for by the investigating officer on his initial report. If you don't, you won't have a case.

You are lucky. I had a gravel truck (semi) back into me at a gas station taking out the front, driver's fender and light bucket.

A couple of days later the Corvette guru at work congratulated me on the first reality of Corvette ownership - damage induced by others.

In case anyone is wondering - honking your horn and yelling at a backing semi truck does not do much when you want it to stop. I am a witness....

Honestly, it's just a material thing that can be replaced. I'm happy they all are alive and I pray they pull through.

I'm sure the insurance company will get all of your stuff fixed up.

Probably a bit inconvenient for you, please keep us up to date on how the girls are doing and your repairs.

X2

I'm no help on the repairs needed. But I will send thoughts and prayers for the occupants of the car. Everyone makes mistakes. REALLY sad when they pay with their lives.

Everybody does something stupid at one time or another, but they should pay for it, dead or alive. That's why we pay for insurance, right? Just don't after families of the idiots if they are over 18.

I think I would try to get them to replace the windshield. However, with the newer repair technology I think you would be fine. Still push for replacement. In terms of the top I'm guessing but I would suspect it can be painted.

Good luck and I hope the occupants from the other car come out of this all okay.
