So when I got this z06 it had a small tranny leak and we thought it was coming from the skip shift solenoid. After searching around on some forums I found out our m6 transmission has a very common leak on the driver side. Between the axle and tranny somewhere.
What kind of fix is this? And how much does it usually cost you get it fixed? I suppose it's some kind of a seal between them that gives in...
Car is a 03 z06.
I looked under the car and I get 1-3 drips on the ground overnight after driving it around.
I'm also changing the tranny/diff fluid next week with mobil 1 synth oils, so maybe just maybe it'll stop the leak. Maybe it's ove filed and coming from the breather...

My '00, which was a 6-speed car, had a leak between the tranny and the differential - right where the two meet. There is a silicone seal there that sometimes gives out. To repair, you have to split the tranny from the differential and then install a new seal. I had mine done under warranty, but IMO, it's not an easy procedure unless you know what you are doing and have the right tools.
Funny you should bring this up....mine was leaking from the rear tranny seal before I bought the car. The owner guessed it would be "maybe $100" to tighten up and I made a deal to buy the car pending an inspection. (Mind you the actual seals are not expensive at all but the entire rear end has to come out, making labor a b!tch).
The estimate came back north of $850 so the seller and I agreed on a reduced price for the car. I literally bought the car while it was on a rack, in the transmission shop getting repaired.
About 4 months later, while it's on a lift for new wheels, the mechanic goes, "you know your transmission is leaking?" Huh? WHAT!?!?!
But this time, it's the front seal. Fortunately, the shop I went to admitted at the time they had the transmission out they couldn't source a front seal and didn't replace it. Happily, they agreed to do that for a much reduced labor fee (I needed new shocks installed anyway).
Fast forward about 8 months and the front seal has a tiny leak again...I notice the dripping on the garage floor. I go back to the transmission place and they 100% backed their work and told me to bring it in whenever I want and they'll fix it for free. I took care of that about 6 weeks ago and so far, so good.
I can't do it myself, I have no place to do it. Hell, I can't even put my car on jacks to change the oil =/ very strict community here.
I think something like this would be min 1000 bux to fix.
I'll just have to deal with it now. We'll see how bad it gets and then maybe I can get it done with my tax refund in few months. I wanted to use that money towards other things, but oh well
