Default Dissapointed with dyno numbers

Just got her dynoed. With LG longtubes, corsa catback and vr intake and a dyno tune, I only made 344/347

Both my collectors on the LTs are effed up when the previous owner ran a ladder over on the highway so they are kind of crushed. One had a 2-3 inch rip on the collector, both are crushed pretty bad. It also has high flow cats and I could care less about cats...

That's where my power loss must be coming from... the crushed longtubes. And perhaps a dirty air filter. I haven't checked that...

Little disappointed. Stock z06 numbers from a car with boltons

We did gain like 13 hp around 6000-6500 though. Also got the afr to around 12.8

I'm going to see how much LG would charge me for 1 set of headers (I actually have 1 new side to go in)

I also just don't see how I could be missing around 40 horses from crushed collectors. I doubt it can be restricting flow that much. Perhaps the exhaust/muffler is messed up as well

btw, this was on a dyno jet at 76 degree weather, pressure 30.01@sea level (South FL)

Wow. Those headers must have been really holding your car back in the condition they were in.

Im confident that you will pick up 40-45 HP when a proper replacement set are installed.

Good luck.

I mean the engine had great compression and all. It's gotta be that. I wish I took a picture of them when it was on a lift

No need. With #'s like that we get the picture.

Are the headers the LG pro's or the LG street pro's? I believe you said you have cats. Do you have the 3" x pipe?

I'm not sure what they are. How can I tell the diff?

I know there is an x pipe. Not sure what size, but I assume 3

Stock Z pipe would be a 2 1/2" H pipe.

The LG x pipe, would be an x pipe at 3" in dia.

If you have the LG streets, hooked up to the stock Z's H pipe.

Did you notice if the cats were welded to your X/H pipe or clamped?

Most cases, with the 3" x pipe the cats will be clamped, just in case one would want to remove & go cat less & slide in the off road by pass pipes.

It was welded I think. It was high flo. it's an x pipe btw.

I asked the previous owner and he said they are lg streets. So it might be 2.5...
it's gonna cost me 430 for one side. just sad that I gotta spend money on new headers.

I'm not sure what you're saying here... LG Streets come with a stamped x-pipe. They do not connect to the factory h-pipe.

LG Pros will be dark and LG Streets will shiny (but a little discolored from heat).

On my 04 Z06 with Vararam, LG PRO's, Corsa and a tune I got 390/380. Seems like your missing something.

The 01 Z06's had Pre and Post cat's, but you fixed that with the LG PRO's.
The 01 Z06's have a slightly smaller cam (not small enough to give you that much loss though).
The 01 Z06's have a more restrictive air intake too. You fixed that with the Vararam though.

You should be way more than that. Other than a slightly smaller cam than my car you should be 380 ish I would think.

If you have aftermarket wheels, which depending on the manufacturer could be as much as 5 lbs heavier, will lower the RWHP numbers. Doubt it would amount to what you're experiencing, but it would be a part of the puzzle.

nope, no aftermarket wheels. actually at the dyno someone wanted to trade motorsport C6 ones with my Z06 ones due to weight. I said no

I found out that i'm actually using a torn up vararam old school foam intake that has torn apart so the TB and MAF were pretty dirty.

I ordered a KN filter that I'm gonna put in the intake and clean the TB and MAF and see what happens...

I cleaned the maf today real quick and it actually made the car pull alot stronger (perhaps the seat dyno fooled me) so I think a good clean of the MAF and TB might actually make a diff.

I'm gonna get a couple things, and then take it back to the dyno and see what happens. if I'm still getting low numbers, I'm going to order the headers from LG and throw these banged up ones out. shame that these headers will go to waste...

I honestly don't see picking up around 40rwhp from headers that are dentless though. there has to be something else. I'm blaming it on the dirty MAF.

I did have my friend who tunes these engines though. even with a dirty MAF, I think we should have seen some good numbers....

It couldn't hurt to check your fuel filter and replace it. Also, make sure your throttle body isn't gummed up either.

Are you getting any engine codes at all? It seems like for the amount of power you are down, there should be some tripped codes.

No codes... (Well I got P1416C which is AIR pump related)

I got the old paperwork from the previous owner. the car was dyno'd in march '06 with VR intake, and LG LT streets (I think the current exhaust as well which is Corsa Pace car)

the 2nd pull, car made 361/318
on the 11th pull, she made 382/361

so it had some kind of a tune for sure. it was dyno tuned...

fast forward to now, it's at 345/340 after a tune which brought it from 340/334

No idea how I can loose 40 horses and 20 tq.

I did a seafoam on the fuel tank and 30 miles on the crankcase, going to do the intake one now, changed all the oils, cleaned the maf (it was pretty bad) and going to install a velocity stack and a power duct with another tune next week. we'll see how all these factors play in and see if we gain anything.

if there is minimal or no gain, next will be replacing both the longtubes with new sets since mine are damaged.

Don't have a good local welder with TIG/MIG machine? Might can save the headers.
