They're just cars like anything else. When a newer model comes out, ours become even less attractive to buyers.

I understand what you're saying about the Viper, but that's a completely different beast. Different ownership experience, I can only imagine. One example; when I visit Miami Beach and see a Corvette drive down Ocean Dr I don't hardly look at it because they are common and seen everywhere, but a Viper, Ferrari, Lambo, etc drives past and I general take a glance at em.

I don't understand why guys don't drive their cars, just in an attempt to retain resale value. The value will always go down. Sure you may get a few extra bucks for a garage queen, but how much value you did you lose by not driving the car. The very small price I may lose when/if I sell my car will not be greater than the experience I had driving and owning it. Ya know?

Yeah, but it does suck that our values are dropping.

They buy them when there 50k and wonder why they lost over 60% in value in a few years. These cars should be driven because they are not an investment of any sort. At least not right now they are not. Who knows in 50 years on if they would be worth the lack of enjoyment.. Again will you be around to enjoy the returns?
Absolutely agree. I see these guys that talk about how low mileage and perfect condition their cars are becasue they hardley ever drive them. There is no way a C5 is an investment vehicle

I'm just worried our cars will get so cheap that they become a car known for being cheap and run down

My Vette's not dropping in value-in fact it's worth more TO ME now than it was when I bought it.
Not planning on selling,so it doesn't matter what it's worth to anyone else.

They are just a car that are bought to be driven and enjoyed.
If you keep them for 30 or so years, then they may start to become and investment, but only if they are 100% original and a model that is consider to be.
Just like any other old vette.
You can get a recondition 76 for 7 to 8k but a recondition 74, 4 speed , 454 is worth 20K. So if you are buying one for and investment and you are over 30,you are wasting your time. You will never see your investment pay. You will also be gambling as to what would be consider rare 40 or 50 year from now.

Drive the S--t out of it is what I say!

Let me be the first to congratulate you for a usless post, I have to say that the C5 is the best car I have ever bought and I have bought a few over the last 40 years and some were newer than my C5. Issues with my car have been next to nothing, Over 50K on it and it still drives and rides like it was new. If you take care of it, It will take care of you. I don't think parts are out of line price wise. Check the price on a Lexus headlight bulb...240 bucks....lol
