ctek connection to optima red top

ctek connection to optima red top
looking for connection help /advice. CTEK 3600 connection to Optima red top battery with side terminals only. The clamps will slip off the small battery conection bolt,the ring terminal connection is to small for the bolt and will not clear the water tight seal on the battery case . Does anyone have solution to this connection problem.

I have the CTEK US 3300 and all I use are the clamps, Never an issue for me, Summit Racing sells an attachment that plugs on the ctek and then you plug it into your 12 volt lighter/power point.

Or alternately, replace the screw in terminals with the ones with threaded tips (get them right in the local autoparts store) and permanently attach the ring lugs that came with the CTek there.

Since this pic I have lengthened that lead there and have the plug tucked down into the cove (dont even have to open the hood to hook it up now

Change the ring terminals is simple and cheap. Find them at RADIO SHACK, ACE HARDWARE or TRUE VALUE.
Mark + and - with red/black paint or red/black shrink tubing. Change them one at a time so you don't confuse positive from negative.

I know this is an old thread, but I finally did the "bolt extender" trick so I could permanently mount the eyelets for my CTEK. Used a little velcro to keep the connector in place when not on the charger and driving around.
