I am looking at A 1998 coupe. 55000 miles and has all the options except duel tops. It has the glass top which I must say I wish it didn't. Its black on black. What do I need to look for? Is the adjustable suspension a good thing or trouble? Its the only one I have looked at that has it. Also the last owner put red floor mats in it and they look stupid. Where can I get black ones? Never owned A Vette but am A GM guy. I also have A Sky and A Diesel truck. The Sky is sort of an under powered C6 in many ways. No I know its not the same thing. Are there any problem areas to look at? Thanks. I have always wanted A C5. I also have considered trading the Sky for a 2011 GS C6. I like the Sky though and like the looks of the C5 a little better. I also don't want to take the hit on another new car. But I have not totaly ruled that out either.
I have a 98 with the adjustable suspension. I bought it with 20K miles and 3 years later it's got 80K. Nothing but smiles.
The F45 suspension doesn't do much so leave it in the middle selection (sport) and just forget it. When it's time to replace the shocks I'll just get traditional Bilstein or Koni shocks and shut the system down. I won't miss it. I wouldn't worry about it.
I also only started with one top - now I have both.
Best of luckl!
Well I have decided to get the car. I did not get off work early enough to pick it up today but the dealer is holding it for me and processing the paperwork. Maybe tomorrow. That is the thing that sucks about driving a truck. When my 8 hours are up I am normally 60 miles from the terminal and at dispatches mercy. Can't plan anything after work.

Congrats on the purchase. Hope it gives you many miles of smiles. You can get some Lloyds floor mats from Chip at CCA (www.customcorvetteaccessories.com).
Its done. Its in my garage all nice and warm. I guess I will be hanging around here as well as the Sky forum now. And then there is the Duramax forum as well. How am I going to find time to drive it? Time to get the Adams supplies and PC out and get the paint perfect.
Congratulations on getting the vette. But we won't believe it until we see some pics.
Do you not believe I have A garage? Its raining like crazy here. I am only home when its dark. I will try to get some pics this weekend. It will be wet or inside. I took some with my Blackberry in the garage but they are not good. I could post them but theyare not too clear.
I have my 98 w/18k miles tucked away in the garage and my 79 as my DD..
First mod that I suggest is a good battery tender and a CLB

I have A battery tender for the Sky and need t get one for the Vette. Is CLB the column lock bypass I have seen on EBay? Is this a real common problem? Will the steering wheel still lock? The Malibu has a key in the dash also and I am wondering if iys a problem on those too. I would be more worried about it happening to Michelle in that car. Either car for that matter as she will drive the Vette in the summer when I am driving the Sky. She is not a fan of top down cars.
