I posted this question in the C5 Performance section but no replies yet. Maybe traffic is down in that area, or I was asking the wrong question in that section.
I wanted to know what to expect in gains from anyone who has done it or knew someone who did.
My changes are to a 98 coupe w/mn6 speed. Vararam and Powerduct, LG streets and x-pipe, LS6 manifold, MAF screen removed.
Stock was 286rwhp what did the mods add? The Dyno guy had to leave town before work was completed. BUT SOTP says it's a big change and really runs fanrastic(fantastic, but this GWB word mangling sounded ok too). 45-50rwhp gain?
The shop guy plugged in a laptop and used a HP tuner program to change some settings, otherwise I don't know anything else, except it didn't see a dyno afterwards. It's running really great though.
I think your biggest limiting factor is stock LS1 heads. I don't recall if the 98 got 241 heads. But the LS6 intake is going to be bottle necked big time. Either ported 241s or 243s will help tremendously. The LS6 intake manifold already out-flows the LS6 heads alone. I'm not sure how much gain you'll get from an LS6 intake manifold on 98 LS1 heads.
With a tune, you can expect about 30 RWHP due to the exhaust. The Vararam and power duct don't show on a dyno. Put heads on and retune and you'll see that 45-50RWHP you're looking for.
The '97 and '98 have the old style heads. On my '98 LS1 after headers alone I picked up 23 HP untuned and the air fuel was way lean. I would imagine with an LS6 manifold you are probably looking at 35-40 HP. Going down the track with those 2 mods plus the cold air I would say you could pick up 5 tenths. On my '02 with a cat-back and CAI similar to the Vararam with no power duct I picked up .4 in the 1/4. The '02 already has an LS6 intake.

Well I guess it's better than nothing, but would have thought it would have been more. After adding similar mods to my bike it picked up about 25% more in power 197hp to about 250hp and love the 1/4 mile times at the dragstrip. BUT this Vette seems like it's got a big gain in power.

That's what I thought. I can't recall the casting number, but they weren't as good as the 241s. The LS6 heads/intake with the 98 cam would be a good combination and should yield decent results.

That's why I was guessing 45-50ish .
I would say that LSx motors and bike motors are going to take mods completely different. LOL (I guess that goes without saying)
Honestly, with your current mods, I'd just pick up a set of used LS6 heads or PRC 2.5 LS6 heads and call it a day. You'll find a LOT of lost power and you'll probably gain some economy as a bi-product of being more efficient. (Don't forget to get tuned again!)
