Check my previous post. Just got a "new" 04 Z06 and would like some feedback on effectiveness of installing a clear bra. Those of you who have them would you please express your opinion as to their value. My car has only 1500 miles and not a chip and I would like to protect it as best I can.
Weigh in if you have experience with the film type bra.
I've had the Venture Shield product on now for about 3 years. In my opinion it was my best move in that I can now drive the Vette without getting all up tight about the first chip. I had the GM bra from a year or two and liked that also but it did get to be a pain when I was on a trip and it started raining etc. I just never felt comfortable leaving it on under those conditions.
The Venture Shield is pricey and I would suggest getting the installation done correctly is the key to being happy with it.
Bottom line is I can now drive the car and have some fun with it which means the cost was worth it to me. I would post a pic of the car but you really can't see the clear bra on it unless you are less than a foot away. Good luck on what you decide.
I had the scotch guard 3m bra on my 350z and it yellowed over about 4 years. (I waxed it a LOT, still didn't work) I did not park the car in the garage though. I will never buy another one, especially for the vette. Down the road in a few years if it looks really bad on the bumper I will have it painted.
I would only consider a bra if I drove the interstate a lot. My vette does not take very many rocks in the face good luck, if you search you find more opinions as well.
I have had the clear bra on my 06 Solstice since 06 no yellow, still looking good.........3M's version. Go for it, then don't be afraid to drive in traffic.........
I have venture shield installed on my front bumper, mirrors, & behind each wheel. This is the best product I have ever bought for a vehicle. Since it has been installed I haven't gotten a single chip in those areas. Also, I am not worried about getting on the interstate anymore. Just make sure you find a good installer.
i bought my vette with one installed.... unknown how long it was on there before i got it but it had some small bubbles... i removed it and the paint was PERFECT underneath, on a car with 75k miles at the time. i bought a new 3M one and installed it myself, was a pain in the *** but came out perfect

I have the 3M clear bra on both my Vette and DD - sure does keep the rock chips down and the paint looking perfect. Have had it on the DD for nearly 3 years and it has been on the Vette since it was new (installed by the previous owner). No yellowing, peeling, etc.
3M on my yellow 00 for about 4yrs.
All the cut lines collect dust and have a black line that is hard to get off.
Damages easily, especially if U hit an autocross cone or scrape a curb.
Does protect against stone chips.
Complete 3M application on my white 02 since new -- it's turned yellow, but saved the paint from road rash. As others mentioned, black areas form along some edges where the film has lifted. Not a fan, wouldn't do it again for the $1K charge.
Best stuff I've put on my ride. Didn't stop at the front, I put some on the door sills(paint area) where shoes might drag across(esp the passenger side), gas cap door, corner DRLs, aft side of all wheel arches(no need for unsightly splash guards ruining the car lines), outter door area where technicians\non-frequent passengers may place their hands on when closing the doors, door handle cups, etc. When I go on group runs, I'm not afraid of being behind z06s with wider track rubber. And bugs and tar come off so easily.

Although 3M used to be notorious for yellowing, the first problem I see if you waxed it. A lot of waxes yellow over time... and if you are applying it to the clear bra it is actually being absorbed into the material. So when the wax begins to turn the film will look yellow. A good quality sealant is the only way to go. There are numerous brands out there these days including one made by Xpel... one of the sites supporting vendors.
I decided to try to protect the pristine nose of my new car. Thanks to forum member EXCESSIVE Z06, Brian installed the Avery Product Nano Fusion with a lifetime warranty. So far I'm very satisfied, the product is nearly invisible with a luster that pretty well matches the shine of the paint. Most people will probably not even notice it!

Thanks again Brian!!
What did it cost to have this done? We're thinking about having this done, too.
I had the Ventureshield installed on my '07 and wishing I had it on the '99. Ventureshield is good stuff. I've heard that Nanofusion is also very good but I've not see it installed on anyone's car and then a longevity report on that product. Now, I do have a negative report on a product called "ClearBra". Do Not Use" it. Its on my '07 now. It looked fine till about 6 months, then it faded or fogged. The installer magically went out of business. The manufacturer of it, offered to replace the product but that's nothing and cheap compared to the installation/removal costs. Its still on my car now till I can afford the extra money to have it replaced and yes, I get lots of negative comments about how poor it looks. Again, VentureShield is very good in my opinion.

There are several examples on our Facebook page that demonstrate why you would want to have a clear bra on your car.

Same here. I got the kit from X-Pel and cut the extra parts myself. I did the install by myself in one day. That was 6 years and 50K miles ago. My paint and the 3m material is still perfect. Can't tell if it yellowed on my yellow car. I use NXT wax. I should also mention that I live on a dirt road. I've since put it on my DD.
