Looking for a female C5 50th anniversary S.E. owner who lives in central/southern NJ. Don’t kill your friend. Sorry about your corvette.
Last night this guy who was driving his girl friends 50th smashed into the rear of my daughters 850 Volvo wagon. The vette was stuck under the Volvo. Very little damage to the 850 (it's a tank) and a lot to the vette. Ouch.
My daughter was shaken up and very upset but OK thank God. The driver of the vette was very nice and felt really bad about what happened. I said hey it was an accident and my daughters ok, your ok and the cars can be fixed. Here’s how the accident happened according to the police. The vette driver hit the gas a little too hard between lights and had to hit the brakes hard to stop. However those big summer tires handled like he was on ice and the car didn’t even slow down. I had to leave the wagon parked on a side road because my daughter was to up-set to drive it home. The vette had to be towed away.
Just an FYI to all you out there who drive them in the cold, rain or snow be careful they can get away from you in a second and it’s all over.
Merry Christmas All
Sounds like the "one and only" accident I was involved in. Back in the mid-80s I owned a ICOC Z28 Camaro. Similar Chicago area winter conditions. We were pulling off a light when an ambulance took the right of way through an intersection. The big SUV in front of me stopped, my IROC Z-28 skidded and the nose of my car ended up under his iron bumper. I was only going about 10 MPH, however could not stop in time as I was just accelerating when he slammed on his brakes.
After the accident, both of us drove one block to the local police station and filed a police report and I thought I was done with it.
Six months later after my insurance finally closed the file, they notified me that the driver in front of me was a city worker operating a city vehicle and claimed of back/neck problems 30 days after the accident. I was pissed that the insurance company didn't notify me and just simply paid out some kind of settlement, considering I did nothing but scrape some paint on the SUV's trailer hitch.
The guy was fine and was laughing about it at the time of the accident. He told me he didn't even feel it.
Yea warm weather tires do not do good when it gets cold out, when I was coming home last night from work it was about 24* out and the back end came around like I was in the snow or something.

When it gets below about 40 the Vette stays in the garage.
