Default CTEK charging question

When I hook up the Ctek3300 to my Optima redtop the maintenance charge indicator (full battery symbol) lights up green and the charge indicator (partial battery symbol) flashes orange. The instructions don't address both lights on at the same time. As I read the instructions one or the other lights up or flashes, not both at the same time. Do I have a problem or is this normal when charging? I've attached the negative cable to the chassis so I think I've got a good ground.

Thanks

Hey John,
I had the same question last week. Here is the best response I got:

If the charging indicator is flashing the manual says one of three things could be wrong.
- cable loose or battery not conducting

-battery is sulphated - let it run for 30 minutes. If flashing continues time for a new battery.

-If flashing is at intervals of more than 10 seconds there is a high self discharge of the battery meaning it's bad.

My problem ended up being that it wasn't connected properly. Once I got the the clamps to get a good grip, all was fine.

I connected the posi and neg clamps to the corresponding posts on the battery.

Thanks. I relocated the neg cable to the battery and it now lights up correctly. Guess I had a bad chasis ground.
