Its actually is a good idea but if you are planning to do mods during the winter or other activities its better to keep at home save the hassle of driving back and fourth. Not a bad idea
I had one of mine in two separate storage facilities for a few months, one in Irvine and then near my new home, while I was in the process of moving and setting up my lift in the new garage. I never felt totally comfortable that it was safe. Plus, neither facility had power outlets in the bays I rented so I was worried the battery would run down.
All's well now that I have it home, safe and sound.

I've stored mine at the same place for a number of years (unheated) and pay $65 a month. An older gentleman owns the storage space and I'm always one of the first cars in and last out, which is what I like. I stored my Cobra at a heated/air conditioned storage facility and paid $235 a month.

I keep mine in my garage at the house, but if I didn't have the space I would certainly look at renting a storage spot rather than keep it outside or something. If you can find a really secure storage facility at a decent price and with electric, it would be a very good option.
