Default head lights

my question is, when I start up my vette and put it in reverse the head lights go up?, only in reverse as soon as I put it in first gear they will go down, after I start moving, but if Im in the garage and put in reverse they will go up, even if I put in (n) and work the light switch to on and off they will stay on untill I shut it off. is this normal or is there something wrong ?, my 67 and my 76 did not do that , puzzeled, this is a 2000 coupe 6 speed. t/u black match box (GINO)

Try disabling the twilight sentinel in the DIC if you have that option, and see what the lights do then.

if that works, more likely than not you have something amiss with the wiring to your e-brake as the twilight sentinel doesn't kick in until you release the hand brake regardless of the gear the shifter may be positioned in (with the clutch engaged or disengaged). i have my sentinel active and i can sit in the garage in the dead of night forever and the headlights don't pop up until i release the e brake.
