I own an 02 vert, 6 speed manual. I have added a cold air intake, long tube headers, no cats, and a Borla stinger catback exaust. Was considering upping the rear gear ratio. What is the stock ratio? Suggestions as to what ratios I should consider? It's not a DD so gas mileage is not a huge concern. Thanks to all you members for any suggestions.
The stock Ratio is 3.42. What most of my friends with M6s do is either a 3.90 or 4.11. You will see a drop in fuel mileage but with a 6 speed is very minimal. It will make wake her up.
I have an 01 vert M6 and even as a DD I will probably add 4.11:1 gears next year. I never use the 6th gear as it is with the 3.42's; even at 70mph I leave it in 5th.

Thanks. If you do let me know and I will do the same for you. I'm the same way. The one thing about the headers is there is a drone right at 1500 rpm and in 6th at 70-75 I'm only turning, you guessed it, 1500. So I run in 5th.
Are you happy with the 4:10's? Did you get enough extra punch to make it worth it. Thanks.
Very happy. Either the 3.90's or the 4.10's will give you lots of extra grunt. It restores the low end that seems to be missing on NA modded cars that gain lots of high end without a perceived proportional gain on the low side.

With the listed mods above, definately go with 4.10's. If you added heads/cam, I would recommend 3.90's. Going from 3.42 to 4.10's is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more fun. Ask me how I know!
