Default 50% 50% luck.

I have dealt with a number of the forum vendors that provide limited production parts for our Vetts. I have a bit of machine trades, welding, R&D, and related experience and have a feel for their positions.

My overall experiences with these folks has run about 50-50. Doesn't seem to be any middle ground. With some like ECS,RSI,RSD, Ya get what they advertise all the way, with timely contact regarding all aspects of your transaction. They provide what they advertise, when they say and back it up with a smile. With others not so.

If Ya search my posts you will see that I always post my pleasant transactions and with the exception of the flopdrive R&D episode, omit flames. And this post isn't to criticize but to observe.

My biggest problems have been not getting my stuff in a timely manner and usually without any contact as to what is holding things up.

Now for the fun part!! Everyone loves a conspiracy! I propose that in some cases with a hot product the guys inside the lope, the "in crowd" guys with thousands of posts get bumped to the top of the list. Now if, in any case, this is true it is fine with me! Just let me know.

Or, if Ya don't want to spill the beans just let us know when and why even if ya have to make it up. "The CNC machine fell over, the train wrecked with the total supply of 4130, the dog ate my home work"

Just let us know!! The bulk of you are doing a great job R&D ing and supplying things for us to spend out kids collage fund on. Keep it up but just let us know what is up.
Hasta
Steve

I agree that a good vendor will keep you well informed of what the status of your order is and if there is some unforseen (or even planned) delay in getting you your part, then there should be some communication coming your way in a timely manner. I for one do not like to have to keep calling a vendor to inquire about the status of my order.

I realize that for some vendors I am just one of many that places orders with them, but part of doing business is keeping the customer happy and informed. I will say that with the vendors here on the forum that I have dealt with, my luck has been very good in being kept appraised on what is going on.

I have bought a bunch of stuff from forum vendors and am happy to say that I haven't had a bit of a problem with any of the ones I've dealt with.

I always like to do a bit of research before choosing who I would buy from. The vendors I have dealt with have been very good to work with. Also considering some of the vendors are local to me helps lol.

I think I'm in the same boat. Had about 50/50 on good service from forum vendors. Just like anywhere else you have to do your research. The ones I've had good luck with are still around and were excellent to deal with. Most the bad luck ones are not here any more so kind of says something about them anyway.

Research what?

There's no way to tell, as this forum does not really have ratings and they lock threads that complain about vendors.

have you ever read the rules about disputes? If not I advise you to do so before you make more false statements.

Let me help you:

Unresolved disputes
The Forum allows a factual post on an unresolved dispute with a vendor or another member once all efforts to resolve the issue offline have been exhausted. Then, the post must be factual and cannot be used to bash the vendor or the member. Once the post has been made, it cannot be repeated in other sections or on other days.

Moderators will try to leave such threads open until everybody with direct knowledge of the issue being addressed has had a chance to provide their version of the facts. The thread must not become a running debate on the accuracy of the “facts” and may not deteriorate into an exchange of personal attacks. Neither should be used as an opportunity for speculation by those who do not have direct knowledge of the issue.

Once there has been the opportunity for the facts on all sides to be posted, the thread will be locked. It will remain in the database and will be available for review by those who are researching the topic, vendor or member.

The Forum is not in a position to monitor transactions or to determine the “true facts” in most disputes. Upon request, however, the Forum will try to intervene and mediate a settlement suitable to all parties in a dispute. When issues are resolved in the matter, it will be posted to the original dispute thread so it becomes part of the searchable record. We believe that is a more useful record of performance for potential customers than would be an eBay-style rating system.

As has been our past practice, members or vendors who show a pattern of unresolved issues will be removed from Corvetteforum.com.

If you are on the forum often enough, you will know which vendors NEVER get any bad reviews. Also try asking around if someone has had dealings with a certain vendor. Actually easier than it sounds.

If you spend just a little bit of time reading post about peoples experience you'll have a pretty good idea who you can trust. When buying from an individual check hispost history and see how other people have interacted with him. Pretty easy really.
