Default If you had a choice between....

A C5 Z06 or a 2005 6-speed C6 LS2 (base model), which would you choose and why?

I ask because the prices are pretty similar, and the performance seems pretty similar too.

What year/miles is the C5 Z06? On paper I would choose the Z06 as the 2005 C6 base coupe is pretty mild in comparison to the 2010/2011 C6 options, i.e. Grand Sport, etc.

I still like the looks of the C5 better than the C6, however would not hestitate to move into a C6Z!

The 05s are the worst. I would not take it over any C5Z

The C5 Z because it's a cooler car! FRC body style, what more could you want?

Thanks Guys! The C6 is a 2005 LS2 6 speed, Maroon with gray leather and 41K miles. They're asking 25K but it's a dealer, so 21-22 should be reasonable.

The C5 Z06's I've been looking at that are nice and clean with low miles are usually in the 18-21K range.

Personally, I like the idea of the Z06 in that you really don't have to mod it to have a really bitchin' ride. If only there were such a thing as a Nassau Blue Metallic Z06. Since there isn't I'd have to go with either red, blue or yellow in that order. 1st preference would be a red one with a mod red interior.

If it is an '02-04 Z06, then I'd take it over the C6. I tend to shy away from the first year of a new body style.

The more I look at the C6, the more I think I should pass. It's nice an all, but too pricey. I'm going to keep looking at C5's and see what I find.

Default good question

Timeless question, wish I was in the position already to make that decision for real. If I did have to choose, it would be all about the seat of the pants driving and how they feel.....

then again, the name Z06 says soooooo much

Other variables: mileage, fit and finish, color, stance, options, OEM condition, wheels, tires, probably would only be hard if they were both relatively identical in condition.

I would take a black one first though............maybe?

I do plan on getting one of these in the next couple of years so I will be watching this to see where this goes.

Asking it on the C5 general and you are likely to get the "C5 Z06" answer most of the time.

Wait until the C7 comes out and the base 05 C6 price goes down where as the C5 Z06 will probably go down by less percentage.

You can always paint, or better yet, vinyl wrap the Z06 into whatever color you want. Also serves to protect the original paint job if you're one of those with the "it's an investment" mind set.

Also... the mod bug will be slightly less painful to your wallet with a C5 when it inevitably bites yah.

Between the 2005 and the C5Z it would be a C5Z, I like the looks of the C5 much better than the bace C6, The 2005 had way to many issues from what I have read.
Now if the choice was a C5Z or a C6Z it would be the C6Z without a doubt.

Yeah, my best friend has a C6 Z06 and the thing is simply incredible! I'd lose my license in about a week.

C5Z > LS2 C6

This question has been asked more times than I've typed letters in this post. A quick search will yield you fields of information about why the LS2 C6 isn't all it's cracked up to be if you want a car to DRIVE.

I don't think that's what he was implying. I believe he was implying that the C5Z is a bad-*** car in stock or modded form, while the base C6 is just *bleh* without mods. If this is what he's saying, I agree 100% with that.
