I'm looking for any ideas for improving the appearance of my engine. Has anyone removed their fuel rail covers and polished the aluminum valve covers and maybe relocated the coil packs as well? I prefer the old school mechanical look under the hood as opposed to plastic covers. Please post pics if you have them.

I pulled mine off and polished them. Before I get bashed I didn't try to make them look like chrome. I just didn't want the dirty look. I obviously didn't move the Coil Packs. I like them being close to the plugs. Here are a couple pictures. [IMG][/IMG]
I am also very anti-cover. IMO covers add weight, cause components to run hotter, potentially fail sooner and make cleaning more difficult because now you have to remove the cover to clean under it.
There are 7 items underhood that are exposed aluminum. I feel that polishing or chroming these items and leaving the rest of the engine bay stock would really make it look nice.
Alternator
Alternator Bracket
Throttle Body
Master Brake cylinder
Water Pump
Idler pulley
MAF ends
To go one step further, you could remove the plastic fuel rail covers, relocate the coils and smooth / polish the valve covers.
I also like the idea of painting the radiator cover and the washer and coolant reservior tops body color.
Polished aluminum intake manifolds are sweet too, or a polished maggie.
There is a member on the forum that is polishing everything on thhis engine. I am sure he will post up a link and his valve covers look great.
That's Joshua and he's not only polishing everything ON his engine, he's polishing the ENTIRE engine.
He's also doing a full tuck job on the wiring and hoses, so it will look like the polished engine is just sitting in the engine bay with hardly anything connected to it.
Thanks for the replies and thanks to Bucketlist 1957 for posting the pics. That's basically what I'm thinking of doing. Does anyone have a similar setup with the coil packs moved? I'd also like to see Joshua's if he posts it up.
