Default exhaust plate installation??

I purchased a plate that goes all around the tail pipes, I have no instuctions .My question is what am I scewing in to at the bottom of the exhaust plate plate under the car .It seems like plastic. How deep can I go safely at what is behind the plastic?I will use 2 sided tape at the top as the way it was installed before..

You'll be drilling/screwing into the plastic center cubby hole. Mine has been mounted with only double sided 3M tape since June '04 when the car was originally purchased. It hasn't come off yet. Just be sure to properly prep the plastic with alcohol.

All I did on mine was cleaned it really well and then used the 2 sided tape. No issues with mine either for ~1 year.

3M double sided trim tape
If you ever need to take it off use a hsir drier to heat the plate then use some dental floss or fishing monofilament line and in a sawing motion pull the floss/line back and forth between the platic backing and the plate...

Same here...4 years using 3M double-sided with no issues. Just make sure the surface is cleaned with alcohol first.
