I purchased a plate that goes all around the tail pipes, I have no instuctions .My question is what am I scewing in to at the bottom of the exhaust plate plate under the car .It seems like plastic.How deep can I go safely at what is behind the plastic?I will use 2 sided tape at the top as the way it was installed before..
You'll be drilling/screwing into the plastic center cubby hole. Mine has been mounted with only double sided 3M tape since June '04 when the car was originally purchased. It hasn't come off yet. Just be sure to properly prep the plastic with alcohol.

same here! only used 3m two sided tape and that sucker has never budged!!

If you ever need to take it off use a hsir drier to heat the plate then use some dental floss or fishing monofilament line and in a sawing motion pull the floss/line back and forth between the platic backing and the plate...
