I appreciate the responses! From what I've read so far, I feel confident in considering a C5.
The electronics part I'm ok with, since that's what I do for a living.
Every car that I have ever owned has needed a transmission and/or engine at some point. Guess I drive too rough.
So I have to go into C5 ownership expecting an engine and/or transmission rebuild at some point. The 4L60E transmission isn't too much of a concern. But swapping out the LS1 seems a little daunting.
If I go ahead with the C5 purchase, I'll probably have a budget of $15k, which will steer me towards the early C5 models. I suppose I'll have to take my time and find the best combination of low miles and condition.
