Stored ZO6
ZO6 Owners,
I am in the military and have stored my 2002 ZO6 for two years, put fuel stabilizer in it and took the battery out and put it on a battery charger. I am back and now would like to use the car. I know I will have to change the battery and perhaps tires, but, anything else you think I may need to watch prior to starting the car?

If the battery was on a float charger, it should be fine to use, unless of course it's getting up there in age (7+ years). I keep mine on a float charger for 6 months at a time over winter and it's no worse for wear.

The fuel should still smell fresh. If you were stored inside it should still be good. Just check.
Tires are not very good after a couple of years regardless of use.
I bet it will flame up with get in a go!

I would get some oil mister from autozone, advance or oereilly auto and spray in cyl before attempting to start, remove plugs, spray oil mist into cyl, turn motor over by hand if possible and then crank. drain oil and change filter then check fuel as noted and add fresh fuel to top off as needed, air tires and check them or have checked and then drive, if in high moisture storage, change rear and trans for safe measure if you desire. thanks for serving..retired Air Force for me, 10 years now miss the people and travel however oh, sea foam for one makes the oil mist stuff. good luck and happy motoring

My understanding is there's a technique to turn the engine over without firing it to get some oil circulated before it fires. I'm told you just hold the throttle down to the floor as you turn it over and it wont fire. I'll be trying this shortly since mine has been sitting for almost 2 months now. We'll see.
