When I fill my gas tank; the gas gauge goes to empty, the warning light comes on 'LOW FUEL', and the heads-up reads as it sees fit. After driving a few miles (10-20), all seems to go back to read normally.
3 possible causes start with the easiest to fix
1. fouled sensors... use a good fuel system cleaner I prefer Shell V Power or SeaFoam but Berryman's Chemtool , Techron etc work
2. a corroded ground... find and clean
3. a bad sending unit .... replace via the rear wheel well

Definitely try the Seafoam or Techron approach first. The sending units can get an accumulation of sulfur deposits on them and cause the fuel reading to go crazy.
