Working on my brothers '99 corvette, had column lock recall done before he purchased it. battery went dead overnight for no reason that we could find, after getting another battery the car will start and run but when you get 2 mph it quits, steering column lock code showing on dash, checked fuses, pulled fuses 23 and 25 waited 10 seconds, no change, disconnected battery for 4 hrs to try and reset computer, no luck
My advice is, pay no attention to the guy in this video.. Just another paid GM employee defending how GM DIDN'T screw up the C5.
Call Corvettes of Houston and order a CLB, make sure you have a GOOD battery with 120 reserve and has a min of 12.5 v to make the computer happy. A few here are not believers of the after market CLB, but thousands of us ARE. $60 and you are all good, as long as your battery is up to the needs of the C5.. As for the video, looks good, sounds somewhat good, too bad that too many people will be calling for a tow if they believe what the guy is saying.. Once again.. BUY the CLB, spend 15 min installing it and forget about it!
