Default 2nd gear auto?

my car started acting weird today?? it acts like it skipping 2nd gear? first just revs out till the rev limiter comes on? let off and it feels like its going into 3rd? it is real cold, but i let it warm up? the trans temp was @ 154 all day. i stopped and put it in second gear and it drove normal? could it be just low on fluid? or could it be because i went to a .5 smaller dia tire in the rear?

You revved it until it hit the limiter and you're wondering if something could be wrong?

If you have an auto tranny, it should never hit the rev limiter unless something is wrong or you are manually shifting the car. The computer controls the shifts and it would shift before the rev limiter is engaged. I would get it checked out as soon as you can.

If you hit the rev limiter there are a few things. Could be low on fluid, has it gotten hot and how hot did it get the valve body could be sticking, and the tire being a bit smaller should not make a difference. I have had 45 aspect drag radials and as low as 30 aspect with out having to do anything to the tranny. There is something wrong but diagnosing on the net is like shooting a bullet in the air and trying to pinpoint where is going to land.

Good luck

are any related codes stored in your DIC?

If I had a full resolution copy of your avatar picture I could diagnose it much better.

Well generally the 3-4 band is what gives out and not the 2nd gear band -

You can't go wrong with RPM - easy swap out and you'll be loving it.

You will not be able to use the "OLD" stock converter you will need to get a new one - I do suggest getting a YANK 2800 - 3200 of your choice

Speak with dave at YANK converters
A tranny cooler would also be a great idea for the summer months.

Thanks,Matt

Some of us are still trying to figure out whether or not he has diagnosed the problem, I ask again, is this a question or a statement?
