hello guys..
please help me,,
I have service column lock in my corvette 99..
I know this problem is common in C5 so thats why the previous owner installed the LOCK BYPASS..
my problem is when I turn the key on, the engine runs then there is fuel cut and the engine not running..
by the way, the steering wheel is NOT LOCKED
I changed the battery with new one, but I still have the problem..
I cant move the car, whenever I run the engine, it shuts down when the column lock message on.
Hmmm, must have been in for a recall-the 2mph shutoff was put in with a recall-are you sure you DO NOT have a GM K-harness installed in addition to the CLB?

what I am sure about is I do have recall mod.
I have been checking a lot of threads talking about "service column lock" but actually nothing helped..
Is the car an automatic or a manual??? makes a difference in what to look for.
it is automatic..
in addition to what I have mentioned above..
this problem started yesterday..
it was raining for the last three days..
i dont know if this is related or not..
I'm waiting for your help guys.. please
So do you have the GM fix (K-harness) or the aftermarket CLB or BOTH?
I bought the car last year..
the previous owner said that he did something with the column..
he just mentioned that he did recall mod..
I am not sure if my car got the GM fix or aftermarket or something like that..

Well, you need to find this out-if it's the K-harness (do a search on it), it most likley puked. If you have BOTH, you need to remove the K harness. If you ONLY have the K harness, you need to REMOVE it and order a CLB ASAP.

If I can do it, ANYONE can do it.. Corvettes of Houston CLB about $60 delivered, 20 minutes to install, no problems ever since!
See how far you can THROW the K-Harness once it's out! More fun than Rat Flinging!
I didn't have the K-Harness but after reading about it and seeing one message in the DIC about it after I first bought the car I did the same thing. Ordered the CLB from CoH, installed in 20 min and never had a problem since. To any new owner of a C5, I'd order one regardless of having problems or not. $60 is worth it to insure no problems later down the road and CoH was great to deal with.
hello again..
I have removed the knee bolster..
and its obvious now the CLB has been already installed..
I disconnected the CLB, then re-connected the factory wiring..
but still not working, I still have "service column lock" and the car shut off
I re-installed the CLB again but I still have the same problem "service column lock" and the car shut off..
what should I do..?
should I order new CLB?
or what..
Please guys.. need help..
You'll probably have to find someone to program the fuel shutoff out. You should check to make SURE the GM K harness is also not installed-GM would have put one in when they added the fuel shutoff "feature".

but this will not solve the real problem
