Default Removing Nose and Trunk Emblems Question?????

I want to remove my nose and trunk emblems and maybe my door mouldings, however I am a little worried that the paint will be different as they have been on the car for 10 years. I know how to remove them just want to know if there will be a shadow of new paint underneth the emblem. Has anyone out there done this to there car? Thanks in advance!

Most have not had any issues with unfaded paint under the BSM's or emblems but a few have discovered their car was repainted and found a nasty little surprise upon removing theirs and had to re-apply them.

Be aware that the front emblem has two posts in the back of it that fit into two holes on the front fascia you'll have to fill if you pull that one off.

Thanks for telling me about the holes on the nose, I would be pissed if I removed it and saw two holes, I guess that one is going to stay on!

Really the only way you are going to be able to tell if there will be a paint fade issue is to take the emblems off. Good thing is that if there is any fading present, you can easily put the emblems back on if you don't like it.

I've have a 2001 C5 and removed both front and back emblems about a month ago. I replaced mine since they were broken. Mine didn't have a shadow of new paint underneth the emblems. Just clean the adhesive off and you should be okay!

On my 2001, I removed my rear emblem and had not fading of the paint.
My car is a garage queen though and is rarely in the summer sun.
(I live in AZ and the summer sun will melt your C5 on contact...LOL)

Hey buddy, did you lose the front one already? I didn't see one on there last night while admiring your ride.

By the way, thanks for the great company last night at dinner. Vicki and I had a great time as usual. Hard to believe we chatted for almost 3 hours huh?

Right here.....That's me

Started with the passenger side, BSM came off nice and easy. Wiped surface with a wax/grease remover and polished it up. Beautiful

Proceed to the Drivers side, noticed the BSM was a bit harder to remove. Got it off, cleaned the area and saw a Ghost image of the BSM

The door at one time was resprayed ( I don't have a clue why ) and the molding wasn't removed.

I was give 2 options, replace the BSM ( NO WAY ) or take it to a shop.

It's going to the Body Shop as soon as the bulk of the winter is over !

A BSM shall never reside on my ride !

if your front badge hasn't been loosened by getting the washing mitt or the towel or chamois drying it you are lucky. my 04 badge was coming off on it's own on the passenger side. i took it off, stripped the adhesive off the back, carefully re applied new tape and put it back. the area under the badge wasn't different from the rest of the car, but like the car in Az, i live in south florida the car remains in the garage and doesn't sit out in the sun unless it is at a show, or at a cruise in, and then it goes right back.

Can always go the same route I am... buy a TigerShark front fascia and don't bother putting an emblem back on!
