Near miss.....yikes
Maybe you guys are used to this but I've only owned a vette for a couple of months. I forget it's invisible sometimes. So a guy is doing about 30 mph in a crowded parking lot. I'm doing 5 mph in 1st gear. We meet at a 4 way but he is looking the other way. My mind goes into super speed and I see if I hit the brakes he will run his lifted 4x4 oversized tires right over me, so I hit the gas instead. 1st gear at 5mph isn't the best way to launch but I scooted in front of him by about 3 ft.
Funny thing was that from his point of view I was the guy driving too fast and almost hit him. Any way after we threw up our hands at each other nothing more happened.....I guess my point is this wouldn't happen in my suburban.

True!
I drive different in my GMC 4X4 than I do in my Vette. I do a lot more worrying when my butt is dragging the ground, than when I'm looking down on somebody. Drive your Vette like a motorcycle. Just lower.

What he said. Situational awareness is critical. It doesn't take away from the joy of driving my Z06. I just make it apart of my normal driving skills and spirited motoring.

I'm with ya. I drive a full size truck and never feel like someone doesn't see me in that. In the vette I feel like no one sees me and at any moment someone with little to no situational awareness is going to smash into me. Dunno I think its because I'm so low to the ground I can't see their faces real well so (esp the trucks) so I have to assume they don't see me and drive accordingly.

Always got to watch the other guy when driving the C5 - they just don't see you in these cars for some reason.

As I drive my Vette, I am always looking for a way to escape from the morons.

I have to comment on the use of the phrase "near miss". It was a near hit (nearly hit) where as if he had hit you, it would be a near miss (nearly missed)
maybe its just me.

It's not that the objects nearly missed each other but that they were near each other when the miss occured. Seems kinda redundant to have even have the word near, when you could convey the idea with just the word miss but aviation is all about redundancy.
From wiki:
For instance, commercial airliners are considered dangerously close if they are less than 1.6 kilometer (1 mile) apart. If they pass at a quarter mile apart or less, this is a "near miss" because they were extraordinarily near each other when they missed collision.
