I sound-proofed my 03 coupe with Raamat. It completely changed the character of the car.

The C5 has no sound-proofing out of the factory other than a small amount of batting behind some of the carpet.

Before going to the trouble/expense of putting sound deadener in your hatchback area, go for a ride on a quiet section of highway where you can get a good idea of how the car sounds inside there. Then get every blanket in your house and line the hatchback floor and sides with them. Two or three blankets thick if you have enough. Then go for another ride down the same road. It's a decent test.

I did this on my '03 Coupe and it made damn little difference(your experience may vary). My noise--and there is lots of it--seems to be coming from wind, even 'tho the car is low mile with apparently perfect sealing from the side windows, top and hatchback. I can place a folded towel up at the top rear of my side window while driving and notice a drop in noise, 'tho with the sealing against and into the weatherstrip apparently fine I don't know what I can do for a fix.

As others have mentioned, tires make a big difference. I had unworn factory run-flats on the car when purchased at 4500 miles and swapping to non-runflats helped reduce the noise level inside.
