You can unlock the door with a coat hanger, The C5 is really easy to get into.

The car should have only came with one key for all needed locks/ignition. If your's had two, then somewhere along the line someone must have changed out one of the locks.
thought I'd be smart and I found an old dipstick that fit down between the glass and weather stripping perfectly (yeah I wiped the oil off). The dipstick was bowed just right too. I hit the unlock button without any problem at all but the only outcome was that the horn started honking. No door unlock. Crap...

So how come the key didn't unlock the door the first time?
apparently the door cylinder was changed prior to my ownership. It seems to be an older type cylinder. The ignition key won't even fit in it. It had a GM style key but the head was smaller. It's funny because nothing ever lead me to believe that anything was tampered with on this car. I usually have a nose for that but not this time.
the key that GM cut for me off the VIN works perfectly in the ignition
Next up is getting the right cylinder for the door and putting that in. I'll use my FOB (provided I can find it...wasn't inside the car like I thought) to lock and unlock in the meantime.
