Default 4:10 rear installation question

Hey everyone who's done this. I'm intending to replace my stock rear gears on my 02 M6 vert with a 4:10 differential. I have gotten a couple of quotes to do the work and they all seem pretty high to me. The lowest was $975. Is this off base for the Southeast? Also will I have any computer reset issues once the installation is complete? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to all.

I think that is high. I have been quoted $450 to change the rear.

No computer rest/reprogramming needed. The price should be between $400-$500. Make sure they use a good synthetic gear oil and that the proper friction modifier in the right amount is added.

England Green (Stephen) did mine in about 5 hours. I was with him when he did it. So I would say $500-600 plus fluid and shop supplies would be a good price. No computer changes needed for a manual.

I agree on price and the need to be on top of the oil/modifier used, but it seems to me they did need to tweak the computer to get the speedometer to work right. It's been 4 months so I wouldn't stake my life on that.
You are going to LOVE those gears!!!
