well had my 2003 Z06 for 3 days now..and i grin from ear to ear..only had it to bot 80mph so far , its an amazing beast. I still can't get in the mind set that i owe one of these machines yet.just had to post this..pics to follow in a day or two
Congrats and be careful they are incredibly powerful machines. I may or may not have seen upwards of 180+mph. And it may or may not have taken very long to get there. First recommended mods for any car is braking system. I'm running brembo drilled rotors ss lines and akebono pads. It needs to stop fast before it can go fast.
i agree with the stoping fast bit and already been looking at the brembo set up with ss lines...as for go fast goodies..i dont plan on doing any right away till i get more used to the car and what it has to offer as it sets
Congrats. I remember when I first got mine and how I would wake up at night, walk out on the balcony and look at her. And when I drive my other car, I'll look at my Z and
It sounds incredibly stupid but my car makes me happy. Maybe that's why my GF seems to hate it.
Get yourself a cold air intake, short throw shifter and long tube headers. If you think the exhaust rumbles now, just wait until you do the CAI and headers. It'll really smooth out the power delivery. The stock shifter sucks! I went with MGW.
Drilled rotors of any brand will not help you stop faster. Stock Z06 pads should be good enough for road use. Just keep the system in good shape (no sticking calipers, fresh fluid, etc.).

, for street use. Even on the track I just use an agressive race pad(Hawk DTC-70's front/DTC60's rear) with Hoosier R6's, with the stock calipers, and I too have seen over 180, and I don't run at the back of the pack. My car is 9yrs old and still impresses the hell out of me. Long live the C5 ZO6
the only mods done to the car are K&N intake system its the 400.00 one and i am not sure if the whole shifter assm. has been replaced it has a hurst shifter setup now..other then that its 100% stock..
oh and the owner before me did a amazing ghost flame job on the hood and down the doors...and what ever body shop did this they did a great job..i am impressed with it..uploading pics now so i can share!
