Congrats and be careful they are incredibly powerful machines. I may or may not have seen upwards of 180+mph. And it may or may not have taken very long to get there. First recommended mods for any car is braking system. I'm running brembo drilled rotors ss lines and akebono pads. It needs to stop fast before it can go fast.

Congrats. I remember when I first got mine and how I would wake up at night, walk out on the balcony and look at her. And when I drive my other car, I'll look at my Z and

It sounds incredibly stupid but my car makes me happy. Maybe that's why my GF seems to hate it.

Get yourself a cold air intake, short throw shifter and long tube headers. If you think the exhaust rumbles now, just wait until you do the CAI and headers. It'll really smooth out the power delivery. The stock shifter sucks! I went with MGW.

Drilled rotors of any brand will not help you stop faster. Stock Z06 pads should be good enough for road use. Just keep the system in good shape (no sticking calipers, fresh fluid, etc.).

, for street use. Even on the track I just use an agressive race pad(Hawk DTC-70's front/DTC60's rear) with Hoosier R6's, with the stock calipers, and I too have seen over 180, and I don't run at the back of the pack. My car is 9yrs old and still impresses the hell out of me. Long live the C5 ZO6

Congrats on the new ownership of your 2003 Z 06! Although Hubby drives ours most of the time I still tell him," She is a beautiful car."

Hubby will have his 68 th Birthday this year and honest to GOD he acts as if he is 16 when he is driving our Z.

We also own a 1973 StingRay and she is also an awesome Vette.
