Default Exhaust Cutout Question

I am toying with the idea of getting electric exhaust cutouts. I have a question:

My exhaust is completely stock on my 04 Z06. In the future I may decide to get headers and an x-pipe, but I would be keeping my Ti's. Would it be possible to have the cutouts installed on the Ti's before the muffler so that in the event I decide to upgrade my exhaust, the cutouts do not have to be removed and re-welded? Are there any pros/cons of doing this?

Any input is appreciated!

Mick

My DMH low-profile units are in front of the half-shafts so they in fact are before the cans. This is the normal install and you should be good to mod as you wish.

I could be wrong, But I would think putting the cutouts in the rear is defeating the whole idea, If you put them in the rear I would think that you wouldn't benefit if they were in the front because the exhaust would have to travel to the rear before hitting the cutouts and along the way you would still have all the turns in the exhaust to cause back pressure.
Just my thought.

Mr. Bill, I had thought of that too.. I guess it sort of defeats a bit of the performance side of the mod, but I think it is the only way to do it without having to modify it again if I change my exhaust.

From what I have read about dyno tests before and after the dumps don't show any benefit. I guess that any restrictions are just inherent in the early part of the system, whether it be the diameter or cats....or whatever.

I have to tell you though, I love the dumps just for the nasty sound at the flip of a switch. From OE silent to alarm-busting obnoxious.....or anywhere between.

Hey formerfoxbody:

I love the pics and the engineering you did....congrats.

I am wondering though why you chose to do it that way? I am assuming that the tabs hold one side while the clamp takes care of the other. I am curious as to why you did not just weld the included coupler on.

Nice work though.

Thanks,
The idea would be easy removal and just clamp some blanks in place. Also no welding on the car or removing any part of the exhaust. NASCAR loud with the LG G5X3 cam and long tubes.

I guess my next question would be, which ones do you guys recommend? I was leaning towards the DMH Low profiles, what do you guys suggest?
