Default Power loss

so i have lost all power to everything in my passenger side door. i guess i'm gonna have to take the door panel off and see if the wires coming into the door from the car have gotten pinched and broken. i dont know what else it could be since nothing else on that door will work.

I believe if you do a search you will find posts about electrical issues in the doors related to the harness coming from the body to the door and the connectors associated with this harness in the door.

Might be in one of the stickies in the tech section also.

well i read bill's sticky about the electrical issues and until i pop that door panel off i wont know for sure. i'm gonna check the grounding point that is close to that door and then see if i can figure out how to get that door panel off and check the wires coming into the door. hopefully it is nothing to serious.

I'm not sure that the module typically fails completely all at one time. However, I believe you can test with the module from the other door.

well i lost everything all at the same time which leads me to believe that the wires got pinched and broke but hell i'm not sure until i pull it and look.

I had the same thing happen to me. Turned out a the insulation on one of the wires that ran through the little rubber accordion piece that connects the body and door had worn through and it was shorting out. Until I had time to go digging into the door I was able to get a short term fix by grabbing hold of that accordion piece and wiggling it up and down until I had power back in that door.

mine all went out at the same time, we looked for damaged wires also, the module was behind the door panel, its a black box with 2 wire harness. this guy that specialized in automotive electrical work somehow traced it down. If I remember correct the passenger side is about $400 from GM and the driver is about 600, I found one used and switched it out myself
