It's like buying any other used car, if you do your homework, and can find a one owner car, chances are you will end up with a nice ride.
There are ALOT of very well cared for C5's out there. I sold my 01 coupe here last summer, it had 54k miles on it, was in very good shape when I sold it.
I would recommend 02 or later C5. They are fun, but not perfect cars. Read as much as you can here about problems/gremlins. Put that info to good use before you buy. I agree that there are well cared for C5s out there for sale. Ya pays your money and ya take your chances.
Yes, with my luck, I feel better with a warranty. I would be totally fine if it was in fact a waste, but if something does happen, I'm prepared...kind of like health, car, or life insurance! Thanks!
I'm not very knowlegable about after-market warranties for C5's, but I'm not aware of any currently that are worth having. I'm a bit surprised that some of our VERY savvy members haven't commented.
Are you looking at a specific warranty that you've found somewhere?
I DO know that I've read LOTS of threads on this forum about them.
I will also say that it's my belief that the C5 is a pretty reliable machine, assuming you do your homework when purchasing.

Anybody wanna chime in here?
It's the Mechanical Breakdown Insurance/Protection Plan. My car ins company (Mercury Ins) offers one and my credit union where I finance my car has one as well. They have 3-4 different levels of protection/warranty svc.
So a 2002 w/ 35K miles on it, or a 2004 w/ 62K miles on it???
Kelly Blue Book has the 2002 (excellent condition in my area from a private party) selling for $21,790 and the 2004 for $20,440. Mileage means everything.
Personally, if you can afford it get the 2002! My 2001 has over 80k miles on it and still runs great!
