Default 2000, new to me, with a few problems

Hi! Little help needed!
Steering button does nothing. Tried soft reset - nothing.
No noise from passenger lumbar motor.
Keyless entry fob does nothing.
water in passenger floor.
Can't open center console.
Where can I get a C6 tire pump kit?
Anyone running Cooper tires?
I bought this for my wife because she couldn't "bond" with her new Audi 3 TDI after I traded her VW CC for it!
I've had two previous Vettes: a 78 that I totally restored and added TPI, and a 70 454 4-speed ragtop that I sold in the middle of its restoration. Got tired of it before I finished it! Nothing like replacing a windshield frame to burn you out! Oh yeah; I'm 69 years old and been wrenching my own for 55 years.
Immediate plans: repair above, install Bilstein HD shocks, Cooper tires, wires, plugs, all fluids.

Moderators will probably move this to the C5 general discussion: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-general-103/

Lots of good C5 info here, like: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...ngths-etc.html

Water on the passenger floor is your first/worst problem. There is a fuse center down there! Get that water up. Dry out that fuse center really well and then try your accessories again.

Opening the center console is tricky. Lift it a little, pull toward the driver side andthen lift the rest of the way. Normal...

Don't know what you mean about the steering button???

Check the battery in the fob and then relearn it to the car. Search here for the instructions. Its pretty easy. If it is enrolled now you should be able to reactivate it by holding the lock and unlock buttons down for several seconds (horn will beep I think).

Buy a tire plug/inflation kit from an auto parts store instead. WAAAYYY cheaper.

The worse problem with water in the passenger footwell is the Body Control Module is down there-that's the thing to look at FIRST!

The water in the passenger area is likely caused by the drain for the air conditioner being plugged. It is located behind the engine on the firewal
next to the battery.

Find this and fix it first,

Thanks; I'm up in Eustis. The steering button I'm referring to is the telescoping switch. It doesn't respond to soft limit reset.

Find this and fix it first,
search "udders" here and you will get a step by step process of how to clean them out.

is it possible the console is locked?

good luck with the repairs. lots of good write ups here for the fluid changes and wire/plug swap

Good advise about the udders and the water issue, the fob maybe bad that happens. The lumbar motor maybe shot get it w/a battery tester. You can buy a Zo6 tire repair kit from the parts for sale section but w/new tires and a AAA card you won't need one. Check tirerack.com for good vette tires. G/L w/the 00 I have one and love it. Oh welcome to the C5 club.

PS instead of the bilstien's look into C6 C06 shocks. Just as nice and little cheaper.

Thanx; I bring it home tomorrow and will clear the udders as soon as it gets home.

I've had really good service out of Coopers and my cars and trucks, and being that they are the only American made tire made by an American company, I'll probably go with Coopers. I'm watching for a Z06 or C6 tire kit, but will keep a couple of cans of Fix-A-Flat for now. I'm getting a spare lumbar motor in case it's bad. I'll do the blood pressure arm band fix of the bladders first thing.[QUOTE=Jims79;1576738258]

Thanks; I picked it up today. The only problem I haven't been able to solve is the non-functioning telescopic steering column. I've tried the soft stop resets numerous times to no avail.
