Default Shift indicator repair

I searched the forums for hours in search of a replacement indicator for the broken one in my 2000 C5 to no avail. So I took a couple of splice connectors and cut the closing flaps off of them, used a soldering gun to weld them to the stub that was still in the shifter, and VOILA! So far, so good! I'll be happy to forward pics to anyone interested.

It broke again as expected. I had done the first mockup with dissimilar plastics. I'll be fabricating a new one tomorrow.

I belong to some diecast / model car forums and I know many of those guys cast their own resin parts and it seems pretty easy to do. I am not sure what this wouls involve, but it may be worth exploring.
