Neither. Sell it and get a Viper.

Nah really I'd think about it more and do what is right for you. Last thing you'd want to do is dump even more money in to your current car then in 6 months have the same feelings of wanting to get rid of it and be out all the money you just spent on it.

I have a c6z and I say keep the c5z its a much better looking car and you already have the same or better power. No reason to sell a car you love and have a lot of $$$ into for a car you may not like

I will get a C6Z06 as soon as possible. Not even a doubt in my mind.

your garage sounds similar to mine (minus harley) having had a c5 and now a c6 z06, stock for stock there is no comparison. it just does everything right plain and simple. all the magnesium through out the car better steering/trans (08+) and just a sweeter suspension all around. You may outrun c6z in your current setup, but you won't be as comfy perhaps.

if the cash is there, do it! but don't ever sell the camaro, i have my original 4th gen too and that's my loud obnoxious car, but the c6z is really a classic you'll always enjoy cruising.

I think this hits on the heart of the matter. Ask yourself...what is it that you want this car to do? Looks...you said C5Z. Interior...C6Z but not by much IMHO. Ride & handling...C6Z.

If it were me, and you really, honestly prefer the look of the C5Z and also a "raw feeling" car, I would not upgrade. The C5 will be more raw if that's what you want. If you want a better interior, I think another type of car altogether would make more sense.

Remember...most buyers bought the C6Z for the looks. We know it because as soon as the GS was introduced, with the same looks but lower HP for less $$, the GS sells and the C6Z doesn't. If you don't want the look don't bother.

Keep the C5Z. You've already got what makes the C6Z great (the motor). So you're all set.

It's hard to answer this question for you without knowing alot more particulars, etc. But based on the way your car is modded, I'd keep the C5Z. You just won't get your money out of it when you go for the C6Z.

My opinion is based solely on the financial aspect of the deal. Believe, I saw my buddy's C6Z yesterday and want one badly.

The C6Z is not as "raw" as a C5Z but it is a damn nice car and has the "wow" factor to it. Ive driven just about every combo for a C5 and C6 and prefer a C5Z over any stanard C5/C6 but I really like the looks of a C6Z (C5Z has a better feel to it for me though).

It seems as if your C5Z is ready to run over a C6Z the way youve got it set up. It just sounds like youre bored and want to go with another style. Besides that , driving the C6Z after getting out of a heavily modded C5Z likes yours, that C6 might seem slower. And the style of the C5Z is already timeless. But if you just gotta make the move , I would probably wait about a year. The C6Z prices are already dropping, with the upcoming C7, the price drop will be even lower, and you are getting married, RIGHT?? And like someone said, the GS has the C6Z looks, less power, and are flying off the lots compared to the C6Z. AND when you think about it, with so many Grand Sports and C6Zs out there, your current C5Z will stand out more, less chance of passing one on the road in comparison.

Lot's of good feedback here and a lot of good points being made. The consensus seems to be that since I already have a 427 in a body style that looks better and feels more like a race car that I should keep what I have. I think the point that has stuck with me the most is the fact that C6Zs will go down once the C7s arrive. I'm going to go with the majority vote here and keep my C5. I don't care about how nice the C6s drive. If I wanted comfort I would buy a totally different car. Besides, I can buy some Corbeau A4s and be pretty comfortable in my C5.

Thanks a million for the advice. I think you all saved me some money in the long run and I think once I see my C5Z with some new paint and trim I will get that new car feeling all over again.

Now, for the reason I will never sell my Camaro: It was the car my ex, and soon to be again, wife and I went on our first date in 10 years ago and had our first kiss in. I love that car and for us it's part of the family. It's been there through our happy times, rough times, our divorce, and eventually me realizing I was a jerk and changing my life around to get her back.

Thanks again for the advice! I can always count on my brothers and sisters at the Corvette Forum!!! Look me up on Youtube. Username: AmericanMuscle85

Wow, that is a tough choice. With a stock or mildly modded C5Z I'd probably trade it in if I had the extra money. But with your engine....I probably wouldnt let it go. You kind of have the best of both worlds.

It looks like you are going to keep your C5Z, which is a solid decision. However, the C6Z and Ferarri F360 are on my short list of realistic replacements for my C5Z, so I totally understand.

Honestly the way it sounds you should keep your car. I'm in Afghanistan right now kind of in the same situation. I got one of my battle buddies from my unit (a TRUSTED friend) to send my car to the garage and get serviced. It just got a blower and cam installed and the shop is about to tune.

I sent you a PM btw.

Also when you get a C6z down the line (keyword: when) make sure you give it the same attention to detail that you give your C5Z.

As much as I love my C6Z I loved and miss my C5Z. I am hoping someday I will be able to afford another C5Z in addition to what I have now and be able to afford to track my C5Z. All of my cars have been perfect. I want one that I do not need to worry about and that is not too expensive so I can have some REAL fun with it. It will sit outside and go to the track often, both drag and roundy round.

Not that I do not have fun with my current cars I just want to be able to go ***** to the wall and not care about a thing.

Sorry for going off track but point being C5Z is an awesome car for doing just about everything. C6Z is more upscale and technologically advanced. I miss the crudeness of the C5Z.

Very insightful, thanks! I love the look of the C6Z and really want one. However, you shed some light on my decision. I will possibly keep my C5Z and add the supercharger I have always talked about.....

I just went throught the same thought process, having owned my current '02 Z06 for over 3 years now, which is a long time for me.

Used '06-'07 Z06s are hitting the $40k range now, often with relatively low miles and in good shape. I looked at them very hard.

But I finally decided to go with supercharging my current car. Ordered an A&A kit yesterday. I just have always loved the C5 looks, the total raw feel of the car with its lack of sound deadeners and light weight. In the long run I think I will be happier with that, especially since it is paid for and the wife hated the idea of another car payment.

Besides, I like the idea of the master sergeant in the old C5 whooping up on the officers in their shiny new GS's around the Patrick AFB area. Computer simulated whooping only on a closed course, of course.

I got rid od my 01 Z, stepped up to a Viper, knowing that with-in two years I would add another vette to start a stable of my favorite cars.
Well the time came and I went with ab 06 Z, it was a mistake, the car is fast, but to numb, and looks like every other of the 100's of corvettes, in the area.
I wish I went back to the C5Z, It looked different, felt like an extention of me when driving it, IMO looks better than the C6(C6 is more like a c5 1/2).
What I will be doing this spring is getting rid of the C6 and finding an already built low compression(with internals like yours) procharged C5Z.
If I cant find one already put together, I'll just buy an 01 C5Z that needs no body work, and drop what I want in it.
early C5Z's can be had for around 19k, dropping 13k in it will still put me under what I paid for my C6Z, which was 43k 2 years ago, as they are now going for high 30's-low 40's, but will get me back in a car that I love to drive, and will still outrun even a ZR1, if needed.

Dont do it, I love the look of you silver with black wheels Z, your motor is already prepped(depending on the compression) for a procharger.
Sell the Z28 , fix the visual problems you want fixed and boost the vette!

buy the one you like best..looks, power etc. or the one that gives YOU the best feeling and if you want to go 200mph get the C6Z or heavily mod your c5...for me c5z has the best looks and I can be happy with 170+ since I have nowhere to go that fast anyway

Put wide body fenders on your C5 and run some 345's out back.

Well, that's easy. I like the C5Z better lol. I'm pretty sure I can run down a C6Z in mine and I've touched the 180 mark... legally of course... sorta...
