I just installed a set of HID's and relay harness on a C5 vette and was wondering how much I should charge the customer? I ran into some problems that I had to work around so I had some time in it. Thanks for looking.
Ohh thats a tough one. 4 Hours!! What were they expecting to pay? Or did you not give them a quote? I'd say more than $100 and your pushing it, if you did not give them a quote.. Good Luck!
I'd charge him $75 to install the HID's ,and consider the repairs you had to make to his car to get the HID's to work right a separate job,and charge him another $75 for the repairs.
Not hardly your fault something on the vehicle was messed up,and had to be made right before the HID's would work.
Unfortunately,if he's like most people,he's not going to see it that way,and you're probably going to end up eating the repairs.
The Ideal situation would have been to stop work, call him when the problems were discovered, and let him decide if he wanted to pay you extra to fix the problems,or take it somewhere else and have it done, and bring it back to you when it's actually ready to have the HID's installed.
He may surprise you(and me) and pay you for your time and be thankful you were able to complete the job, even with the problems you encountered, but you won't know if that's going to happen till you try and collect.
