AM Radio Static
Had just purchased the 2000 and as soon as the sun come up, no AM radio....Someone posted the same problem and the answer was to disconnect the two rear defrosters. That was almost four months ago..... and now I get great reception on AM and FM. Problem solved BUT I live in south Florida and we don't need any defrosters.
Metallic window tint over an antenna in glass window can reduce AM reception, the more expensive carbon tint allows more of the signal to hit the antenna. Does your car have aftermarket window tint?

I disconnected the rear defroster, but that didn't help. But I have noticed something unusual when driving on different surfaces. There seems to be more static on concrete paved roads that blacktop. Is it possible the belts in the tire are giving off some kind of signal and then transmitting it through the TPS to the radio? I replaced the Goodyear tires about 3K ago with Firestone Firehawks run flats but I had the noise before that. Any more thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
Don't need that defrost anyway!
