If you bought hubcentric afapters that bolt onto the hub than you bolt your wheels to it, yes they are safe. I have seen guys with the flared rear fenders running 1.5" adapters

If you bought spacers then you need longer studs to be able to use them. If you get the proper length studs and the spacers are hub centric, they will be safe. If they are not hub centric and you do not have the correct length studs they are NOT safe.

If you bought wheel adapters and you got the hub centric ones they will be safe. Adapters bolt onto the existing studs and have their own studs that the wheel mounts onto. I would only use the hub centric adapters.

I ran 1.5" hub centric adapters for over a year until I could afford the rear wheels and tires that brought the rim out flush to my L5 flares.

The man knows what he's talking about. I'm running 10mm wheel SPACER with ARP long bolts. My spacers were not hubcentric so I had to buy hubcentric rings to correct this. I have absolutely NO issues at all.
