Flush Mounted Tail Lights
I just received my Flush mount kit from Zip and I am have nothing but trouble trying to install the lights. The foam rubber that goes on the bottom half of the tail light openings forces the spacer blocks and screws to pinch inward. To make matters worse, I have the blackout kit from Vetteworks, which is the black plactic pieces. If I get one screw started, the other screw is on such an angle and there is no room to see if it is lining up with the hole.
Is there a secret to the installation, or is this just another mod that is p### poor engineered and collects the well known Corvette tax.

It's crap.
Never installed mine after I saw what was in the package. Those Home Depot wood screws and the other clustercrap made it sit in the garage for the last 3 years.
Anyone wanna buy a new Zip flush mount kit for $15 shipped?

I tried this mod early on wayyyyy back in 2004 after I purchased my vert. It was one of the first mods I tried. I laughed when I received the kit which was nothing more than 4 pieces of plastic, Home Depot weatherstripping and 4 long screws that did not match the original OEM screw thread.
I installed them, with similar frustration and drove the car around 1 week with the kit on. I then realized the rear of my Corvette looked like the rear of the Chevy Cobalt and removed the kit. I then moved into a set of euro tail lights and I now have the LED Halos (and I love them).
I know a lot of C5 owners who tried the flush mod only to go back to the recessed look, which IMO, looks better and gives the C5 some of its personality.
(I don't care if I have to constantly remove the sand and small dust that tends to accumulate in the coves).

Platinum Supporting Vendor
Sorry fella's but we don't make that kit eventhough we do sell it. I had them on our C5 race car with euros and thought they looked pretty good. The kit is really not as thrown together as it may appear, those blocks set the taillights at the correct angles. I didn't like the screws either, but the factory screws are torx and you will not find those long enough without them being very expensive which would raise the price of the kit. I don't know it would not fit with the black out kit as long as the holes in the lenses lined up properly. You do know that you don't have to throw them away, as long as they are not damaged we do accept returns.
Thanks

Drifting
I ordered my set from pfyc.com about 5 years ago, which is also a supporting vendor. I don't recall if they were in a zip package i'm pretty sure they weren't, but I didn't have any trouble at all with mounting them. The contents were still only small plastic blocks and stainless phillips screws (never rust), and weatherstripping, but after being installed they turned out fine. You either like the flushmount look or you don't, to each his own. Hope you have better luck with them.

corvette mods . com sucks. Screws were rusting after the first time they got wet. The seals would not stick and were all over the place, both things I paid for were worthless though the spacers did work. What a gyp.
Nowadays I don't even care about the dirt or water on the back/recess. Plus, I like the recessed look better.

I had my flush mounts on then took them off & reinstalled them when I got led taillights. As to rusted screws a black magic marker or the snap cap covers will take care of that issue.

Corvette Mods are the worst dirt bags peddling Corvette parts on the planet. To the OP, I wished you would have listened because they do not deserve a dime out of anyone on this forum.

Took apart the lens and made my own kit from HD including weather stripping. I like the more flush look though they are not completely so. Easy to do and I am only barely mechanically inclined.

Complete JUNK! Don't waste your money. They have ripped off too many people already. Even if you return them, you're out roundtrip shipping. Only to verify that they are complete junk.
