Im going back and forth between shelling out the cash for the caravaggio race seats, or getting a set of the Corbeau FX1 Pros and using the money I save for some other interior upgrades (double din, etc). Anyone have the FX1s? How comfortable are they? Any loss of headroom/leg room when using the Corbeau brackets? Im 6'6 so thats a major issue....I already know that if I go with the Caravaggio's, Im going to need to custom fabricate some adapters to pick up the lost head/leg room. I saw someone over on the C6 forum who got the FX1 Pros in black suede and then had the centers redone in leather to match the burnt sienna interior in his car....looked pretty slick!
Also how comfortable are the FX1 Pros on longer road trips? Lastly, how easy/difficult is it to remove the centers of the seats to potentially have them redone as in the above photos? Any info you guys have is much appreciated!
hmmmm.....thats unfortunate because I really prefer the look of the fixed back seats to any of the available adjustable seats....which as far as I can tell is pretty much limited to the Corbeau A4

Have you seen my Viper seat thread? The A4s aren't the only option. The real thing to keep in mind is if you do the seatbelt conversion I show, than your options suddenly increase to a lot more seats.
I had the Pro's and really liked them. I am 5' 10" and I fit with my helmet on and they were very comfortable on long trips too.
One trick I did to help with the head room was to mount them using the Hard Bar mount instead of the higher Corbeau brackets and then some custom work. On the bottom of the seat there are 4 raised mounting points that are about 1.5 inches tall. I sanded the rears down to be flush with the seat bottom and that added some additional head room.
After about two years I upgraded the Corbeau's to a Cobra seat and love it even more. I was attending faster track events and wanted a stiffer seat, so I went with the Cobra. It took some additional custom trimming to the interior panels, but it fits and you would never know anything was changed.
Front Raised Mounting Point- The rear was sanded smooth
Thanks for the input guys....I guess the first order of business is to figure out if I do in fact fit in the FX1 Pro....if not, its kinda a moot point. I was hoping someone closer to my height would have some experience with after market seats.
I have been watching the viper seat thread and will continue to do so...I poked around on ebay looking at viper seats and it seems that you got a pretty good deal on some low milage seats....the current available selection looks to have substancially more wear than yours do. Out of curiosity, do you plan to do anything about the "Viper" insignia on the seats? I know its a little thing, Im just curious if you're even going to worry about it.

I bought them off of a Viper forum. Way better deals to be had than the worn out Ebay junk. What I was really getting at though is the Viper seats didn't fit without converting to a C6 seatbelt.I believe if you did that, you could fit a set of Sparco Torinos or Milanos without any problems.
The reason I bought the seats is because I was told they would fit. Since they didn't I improvised and found a way to make them fit. I believe this method opens the door to a lot more seat options out there.
I have FX1 Pro's, I'm 6' and my helmet rubs... Doubt FX1's(or any fixed back seat) are the option for you
With the Corbeau brackets in their stock position your helmet is going to hit the headliner. You can shim the front mount about a quarter of an inch and possibly get the clearance you need though. I've got the FX1 Pro for a driver's seat and it would be comfortable enough for a drive around town, but after about 250 miles of highway it gets a little painful (at least till you go numb) Mine is a track car so I'm pretty happy with the seat for that purpose.
so the ten hour drive to Austin to visit the girlfriend is probably out of the question huh

you wouldnt happen to know how wide the base of the viper seats are would you?
I took some measurements today. The width that is important is the width of the seat base near the back of the seat. Specifically, the area that has to clear the seat belt.
With the original C5 seat belt reel, the clearance was just under 17"
With the new C6 seat belt the cleareance is just under 20".
The viper seats are just under 20" where they clear the seatbelt.
Unfortunately most companies don't publish these dimensions for their seats, only the widest part of the base.
That being said, if you take the width of the A4s and add a few inches to it, I think you should be ok.
