I don't know the average, but with the clutch, flywheel, slave and master cylinder, s/c kit, and tune, installed for us was $9,500.
I don't know if you could build a stock LS1 up to 600 flywheel hp without using a power adder for that amount. Our installer/tuner said that on the first pull, it made 525 rwhp but it was to lean on the top, so when he fattened it up, it made 515 rwhp. He said that on a manual transmission car like ours, you divide the rwhp by .85 to find the flywheel hp. In our case it would be 605.88 flywheel hp. It would be interesting to know what the highest hp someone has made by just adding heads, cam, intake etc. and for how much.
I told our tuner that I wanted to one day take our car to the Texas Mile and see what it would do. He said that the Texas Mile would put more stress on the engine than his dyno would, and that it would be prudent to use a octane booster or race gas when running wide open for a mile. I now have Safeway 91 octane fuel in it, and wanted it dyno'ed with that fuel because that is what I buy locally. When I take it to Thunder Hill "road course", or the Texas Mile, I will add racing fuel to up the octane. Thunder Hill has a 5/8 mile straightaway. Do you guys with s/c add octane booster when racing your cars?
I made 480rwhp @ 8psi with longtube headers on 91 octane. Bone stock otherwise. Now I have 9psi and meth, making 512rwhp on a 131k mile Ls1. Original clutch too.

Hmmmm stock clutch?
They told me that the stock clutch would be history after a short time of boost. I guess not in your case. Anyway, they talked me into a new clutch and pressure plate.

Well I've been running Michelin PS and PS2 tires out back, and I don't drag race so that's probably helped some. I do a lot of roll racing or canyon carving though. Have a set of mickey thompson 305/35/18's coming, so we'll see how long my clutch lasts then.
24k miles with boost and 131k miles total, she still works for daily driver duty.
