Default Anyone Try These??

I ordered my Vararam and came to conclusion that I need screens for the ducts to keep the debris out. The stock Z06 ones look like the rob airflow quite a bit. Stumbling around WCC, I found these. Anyone have any input/experience with these?

By the way, if you reply to the thread and you DO have a Vararam please just state if you have screens or not. Just want to get an estimate of how many people do. Thanks.

I had a Vararam on another c5 with no screens. Never had a problem, but these sure can't hurt. I think they look real good, too.

The stock screens arent going to rob you of enough airflow to cause any performance loss.

I'm using the stock screens on a 600 hp Lingenfelter vette. You'll be fine.

Plus, the holes on that thing you are looking at are so big they would let debris in anyway. Kinda defeats the point.

Aren't those the screens used to allow more airflow into the engine compartment?

I sue these with my VR:

What made you come up with that conclusion?

Vararam needs no screens..

Me? I just want to keep debris out. Sure its not necessary, as a matter of fact, I wasnt planning on doing it. But after thinking about all the leaves and crap we have up here in CT, I would prefer to have screens as long as it doesnt effect performance as a result from less airflow.

I have the Vararam and some z06 screens, along with a WCC x-pipe and SLP Powerflo exhaust. I never noticed any difference. For what it's worth, I recently had my '02 convertible dyno-tuned at 335.9 hp and 358.9 lbs/ft torque, and the tuners never so much as mentioned the screens.

I put screens in mine made out of stainless gutter screen that I got at home depot. And yes, I have the complete vararam system.
