i am purchasing a 2003 anniversary pkg vette thursday...i dont like the painted wheels...i beleive they are 17x8.5 up front and 18x9.5 rear..is this correct and can i put 17x9.5 front and 18x10.5 in the rear??and will the factory tires go on the wide wheels??
If it's a REAL 50th Anniversary (vs. just an 03'), you might have Magnesium Wheels (a very expensive option when new and super light weight)-you might want to figure that out first.

If your car is a true Anniversary edition (Anniversary red paint), then it does not have magnesium wheels on it - it has champagne-painted aluminum wheels and center caps. And yes, they are 17x8.5 and 18x9.5 in sizes. Yes, you can put 17x9.5 and 18x10.5 wheels on the car (same size as the Z06). The stock size tires will go on the wider rims, but a more ideal size would be 265/40 fronts and 295/35 rears.

The factory size 17X8.5 front and 18X9.5 rear run flats will not fit the wider rims properly due to their harder composition and inability to stretch and therefore will not keep air when mounted. If the narrower size tires from the stock painted wheels are non run flat replacements then they will have a softer compound and will be able to stretch to fit the wider rims.

Congratulations on your AE. Watch out for the bad info amongst all the good stuff here. People genuinely try to help, but bad info keeps circulating too.
Maggies were an option which was NOT available on the 50th Anniversary Edition. They were an (RPO) option on any other '03 and other years (except Z06). The dealer would sell you some and even print you out a nice companion window sticker, but factory they ain't. All 50th AE wheels are painted aluminum.
You can run an inch wider wheel, but you will need a different tire width too. There are plenty of posts you can search for that will have specific info.
